It has leaked out that the Owners are about to give a Super Bowl to the new stadium in New York City when they vote on Tuesday.

It should return to the best city for super bowls and that is New Orleans. But anyway congrats to them that spend the money for new stadiums.

OK, they do realize these things hopefully:

-Game will be played outdoors.

-It's very cold, snowy and windy in NY in February. Do you want to watch a super bowl played in a snow storm? I don't and my guess is the typical fan who goes to the Super Bowl won't either.

Terrible decision......................

Rex Ryan was basically calling teams pussies if they can't play in the cold weather. I wish I could find the interview.

Well, Rex is a fat ass who can't stop running his mouth. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't give him any extra credibility........

Sorry, this isn't 1966. The championship game shouldn't be played in the snow and ice. There's a reason they play Super Bowls in warm weather cities or in domes (which I hate). Rain is one thing, snow and ice is another. May the best team win, not the best cold weather team....................

Kinda like it from a fans perspective to be honest. Football is a game played in the elements. There are cold weather teams just like there is warm weather and dome teams. If they can play the SB in a Dome which clearly favors a dome team if they would happen to get there, they can play it in NYC where it could possibly be windy and snowy. If you are the best team, you should be ready to prove yourself the best regardless of conditions.

Not saying I'd want it in a cold city every year, but bring it on every few years.

As far as the "typical fan who goes to the SB".....well to be honest, I could give a shit less about them, for the most part it has turned into a cooperate look at me event instead of a die hard football fan event. Maybe if it's not 85 and sunny there might be less fake fans and more true fans that end up at the game.

Do you really believe that? It will still be a game for the rich, famous or those who just want to party for a week. NY will bring more of that atmosphere, but they just won't show up for the game if the elements are ugly. The Super Bowl stopped being a game for the regular fans to attend (95 percent anyway) 20 years ago..........

I'm probably more of a football purist that most, and I don't want to see the game played in a snowstorm. Sorry, you have the elements in play during the end of the regular season and they playoffs if the cold weather teams get home field. I want the game for all the marbles played in the best conditions possible..............

Do you think that last years SB would have been as entertaining if it was played in an outdoor stadium in near freezing weather.

I sure dont, put this idea back from which it came.

What is Rex Ryan even worried about, the Jets wont be in any SB for some time to come.

Then the rich and famous can freeze their ass off for a week. Football was meant to be played in the cold IMO.....play it in the cold! The league is made up of teams that play in all different elements. To single out one set of these and say that their elements can not be considered for the Super Bowl is ridiculous. Rotate the game around the entire league to the cities that have the infrastructure to handle a game of this magnitude regardless of weather. It's the media that does not want to see cold weather sites (gawd forbid the spend a Super Bowl week in a cold city). And after New York gets the SB let's look at some other great NFL teams and cities that deserve a shot to host this event. New England, Denver, Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago (SB at Soldier Field!!), Seattle, & Kansas City (if they have the infrastructure to handle it).

I am not saying bring the game to cities like Cleveland, Cincinnati (AWESOME stadium, but the city is not set up to handle that scale of an event), Buffalo, & Pittsburgh (strong argument could be made for the city, but think they'd run in the same issues as Cincy for example and the same issues a city like Jacksonville had).

Some of the best and most famous games in NFL history have been played in the elements. There is nothing wrong with playing the Super Bowl in them. Bottom line is over half the league's team are located in cold weather cities. It is part of the game and culture. The game is not played exclusively in warm weather cities and domes.....nor should the SB be limited to these environments.

Those cold weather teams seldom play a game in the heart of winter when the super bowl is played plus the price of a super bowl ticket is such that I wouldn't choose to freeze my asp off watching the game in a blizzard.

It is played in the cold during the playoffs, so the weather does impact who wins, just not in the super bowl. The ultimate game should be enjoyed, not endured............

Probably the most famous bad weather game ever was the Ice Bowl. I sure as hell don't want to watch a game like that and the players sure don't want to play in a game like that AND the fans sure as hell don't want to sit through a game like that. Whenever they talk about that game, it's not fondly. Players talk about how they shouldn't have even been playing. That was extreme, but similar conditions could happen in NJ in February..........

No Thanks..............

(KFFL)The Baltimore Ravens are among five NFL teams that would vote against a Super Bowl in New York, according to the New York Daily News. "I'm not sold on it," owner Steve Bisciotti said. "The idea of cold weather certainly doesn't scare us. The idea of a two-foot snowstorm does. After what we've been through in Baltimore in the last three months, you really have to wonder if logistically it's possible the darn thing could get postponed. I don't think you could get people into the Meadowlands, 70,000 people into the Meadowlands, in a two-foot snowstorm in New York."

It's official!

Break out the parkas! The 2014 Super Bowl will be held in New Jersey and it won't be indoors.

Now let's cross our fingers and hope this super bowl is remembered in history for the game played and not the weather that it was played in.

Personally I hope it snows 10 feet. It would serve the NFL owners right for being bought and paid for by the new stadium.

rotoworld,

The decision was made Tuesday after a ridiculous three rounds of voting. New York beat out two other warmer regions -- Tampa Bay and South Florida -- for the right to hold the NFL's championship game.
Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter

I wonder what they find rediculous about it taking 3 rounds of voting? IMO it at least shows that all of the NFL owners weren't for sale.

So we should change the game at the ultimate level?? BS, if weather is a part of the game it should be part of the game. If it's OK for the rest of the playoffs, it's OK for the SB. This is FOOTBALL....not Tennis.

One, I would LOVE to watch a game like that, as a fan on tv, who wouldn't??? And your right, that is extreme and not really a good example, but don't kid yourself, many would LOVE to watch it, just not be at it....and last time I checked millions WATCH the SB, only thousands attend. As far as the players wanting to play it in it, OStheLines had 3 former players on today, one was an old time packer who played in the GB/Dallas game and stated it was the best game he ever played in....Teddy B also stated that the extreme elements (like the tuck game) made the game memorable and better to play in. These are players talking....football is all about the elements, not how we can take them out....

Some of the greatest games in the history of football are memorable in part due to extreme weather. It's part of the game and part of what makes it special. You could get a snow storm in Feb in NYC and you could also get a 50 degree day. Play the game in the best cities that the NFL has to offer, even the cold ones. I love this move by the NFL and I hope to see more moves like this in the future.

Bring on the SNOW!! ;)
