  • PSX reports from all accounts, Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) will be on the field and ready for the start of training camp when the Panthers begin practice on July 29. Stewart sat out the OTAs resting his surgically repaired ankle. Stewart has missed more practices than he's participated in since joining the Panthers but has never missed a game.

No freakin' way!! If this is the truth, dude has no exuse for sucking overall as an NFL back! I would have guessed he only played in less than half.

2000 rushing yards and 21 TDs in two seasons in the best RBBC in the NFL. Not too bad...............................

Start him on the days when he gets 40. Pretty much carry you to victory by himself those weeks...................:xpopcorn:

You will have to share that sports almanac from the future you got there buddy :)

I thought that's why I got invited to play in IBL...................

I know he's inconsistent, but my first post was more to the point that he hasn't sucked so far, just suffers from a lack of opportunity. If they would split the carries consistently, he would be a good player to have at a late 4th or 5th round value. I see him going late 3rd in some redrafts, which is too early..............

Part of his lack of oppurtunity is his lack of health. I was shocked to learn he hadn't missed a single game. Dude is always hurt. The sad thing is you almost have to draft both in the first 5 rounds or try to figure when to use Stewart. It just seems like a waste of effort when you could be drafting solid stand alone players at that point. I know you can't guess injuries, and we had some luck with a group buy on Mendy last year. He didn't cost as much though.

Both efactor and Sarge are right. As efactor pointed out, great production. As Sarge pointed out, in SOFFL Sports Outlaw Fantasy Football League scoring Stewart had 4-3pt games and 1-5 pt game in 2008. In 2009 Stewart had 3-3pt games and 2-4 pt games.

In SOFFL in 2009 Texangrrl rode the trio of Ryan Grant.....Ricky Williams... and JStew to the Championship.

Part of the JStew puzzle is that he has spent so much time on the injury report as RCs post pointed out. So there has probably also been a couple games where the experts and reports said he didn't practice and won't dress or be active and we didn't find out any different until 30 mins before kickoff. Yet he was active every game in two seasons and always saw the field.

To add to Norm's post, JStew is the poster boy for hit or miss. Last year he had 8 games in which he was under 10 pts! 6 of those he was under 5, those are week killers there.

However, when he's one, kid is MONEY! In the 8 games in which he was over 10 pts, in 6 of the 8 he was over 18 and 4 over 20! He never failed to go over 16 pts when he had at least 15 carries. Kid get an opportunity and he runs with it.

A couple things:

-The OL was beat up last year. Assuming good health for the boys up front, which is one of the best groups in the NFL, I think you will see more consistency out of both Williams and Stewart this year. I actually like Stewart better considering where you could get him compared to Williams. I this is the year you see a 50/50 split. Fox can't ignore the end of season performance that Stewart had. I think he is good value play. Plus, if Williams gets hurt, gold mine.

-While Moore isn't great, he will be a big upgrade over the way Jake played last year, so Ds will respect the pass a little more. It was brutal last year between the defense stacking the line and the Panther OL being beat up AND they still put up good rushing numbers. I think they roll this year.

Anyway, I think you see more consistency out of Stewart this year..........

If their values hold where they are now, you can get DWill in the 2nd and come back with Stewart in the 4th....may not be a bad strategy this year. You could really start both at the same time if they are both healthy if that running game is hitting. And like E stated, if one goes down, the other is MONEY! Top 5 type production.
