rotoworld,

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Rams are completely confident that Steven Jackson (back surgery) will be ready for training camp.

The Rams reportedly believe that the surgery was a positive and that he'll be better for it, as opposed to it being a major concern. The procedure is expected to "alleviate some pain and discomfort in (Jackson's) disc area." Jackson, who hasn't played a 16-game season in four years, will remain a risky, if potentially high-reward fantasy pick in 2010.

I've stayed away from him the past 2 years. But this year, I think it is going to be at least 15 games. I also see him reaching the endzone a lot more this year. He'd be a nice pick in the later part of round 1. But in order for this to be true, I have to see him 100% healthy after that surgery and fully participating in training camp.

One of Murphy's lesser known laws is: Whenever everyone agrees it must be wrong.

Until I see some naysayers chiming in I'm gonna stay away from Jackson.

rotoworld,

Steven Jackson indicated that he's four weeks into an eight-week rehab from surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back.

"The surgery, really, was up to me," Jackson said. "I decided to have the surgery, because I was still in the gray area of needing the surgery or not going with the surgery ... but looking at the season and being able to fully recover from the injury and being able to go to training camp, April was kind of the deadline." Jackson insists the surgery is a positive for his 2010 season, as his back pain has been alleviated. May. 18 - 3:23 pm et

rotoworld,
Coach Steve Spagnuolo suggested that Steve Jackson (back surgery) could be ready for limited action in next week's OTAs and minicamp.

Spags wasn't even sure if Jackson would be ready to start running on solid ground, so we wouldn't bet on seeing him next week. As optimistic as the Rams have been, they'll want to take every precaution with their best player. Training camp is a more realistic scenario.

I couldn't agree more. I too have been avoiding the guy for the last few years but there's something about the news out of St. Louis that's making me really excited about him this year. If I'm in the position to take him, I think I'd actually go ahead and do it. Just have to keep my eye on the news for the rest of the offseason.

rotoworld,
Steven Jackson (back surgery) has been medically cleared for the start of Rams training camp.

Jackson may be limited, but he'll be practicing with the team barring a last-minute surprise. While he still brings red-flag risks as a mid-to-late first-round pick in a low scoring offense, this news should ease concerns about his health. The Rams have displayed the utmost confidence in Jackson as the offensive focal point once again in 2010.
