Capable of leaping over tall buildings..... Carrying the ball 300+ times..... Fantasy Super stud...... Interesting!!

The Pittsburgh Steelers plan to rely a lot on RB Rashard Mendenhall this season, reports Mark Kaboly, of The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said Mendenhall is such an explosive player that the team does not want to take him off of the field. Mendenhall, the team's starting tailback, is expected to serve as the team's third-down back, goal-line back and possibly also as their short-yardage back. The team plans to use him far more than the 242 carries he had last season.

Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians compares Rashard Mendenhall's skills to those of Marshall Faulk and Edgerrin James. Analysis: "He is a good combination of both those guys," Arians said. "He has that kind of skill set. There is no doubt he can do what those two did." It's high praise from Arians, who saw both backs up close while he served on the Colts coaching staff from 1998-2000. Arians plans to use Mendenhall as a do-everything back this year, increasing his role in the passing game and at the goal-line. A true workhorse, he's a legit late-first round fantasy option.

No way!! As talented as Marshall Faulk?? WTF!!

Where is all this hype coming from. This guy is average. There's not a single thing that he does exceptionally well.

ER, I think I have to agree with ya. Mendy is a guy I like, but I don't love him. Comparing him to Faulk and James is a joke. Kinda a jack of all trades, master or nope kind of guy.

Sorry, but I think Mendenhall will lose out on the short yardage and the goal-line touches to Mr. Dwyer, the guy is a bruiser.

I would be much, much higher on Mendenhall if he had a real Qb for 4-6 games, and they had really addressed the O-line better.

Plus, I don't buy the run more, especially once Roeth gets back.

I think Mendy will be okay, but he won't be a top 5 and barely in top 10 IMO

Though Rashard Mendenhall's 324 carries were just 10 short of the NFL lead, coach Mike Tomlin has no concerns about overworking his bell cow. "That's why you draft running backs, to hand them the ball," said Tomlin. "Wear and tear is part of the game, specifically at that position. You worry about it but it doesn't dominate your thought ... I ain't been around many backs who don't want it." Mendenhall will again have one of the most consistent workloads in the league next season.

Play it again, Sam.

Early Average Draft Position at My Fantasy League in 2011 drafts have him as the number #8 back selected overall in all league sizes. It's still early, only 150 drafts, but he is going ahead of Gore and Forte.
