Stanton wants out of NY (He's a Colt now)

Drew was signed last week to be Sanchez backup now wants out with Tebow coming to town

Jets backup QB Drew Stanton is considering asking for a trade or release, according to a league source.

Only a week ago, Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum recruited Stanton to New York to be the Jets’ No. 2 quarterback behind starter Mark Sanchez. Now, with Tim Tebow in town after Wednesday’s trade with the Broncos, sources said those close to Stanton feel lied to and betrayed.

Stanton turned down the chance to explore two other options and also took less money to go to New York because Tannenbaum was unequivocal that the QB was being brought in to be the No. 2 and the team wouldn’t draft or sign any other QBs. Sources also said Tannenbaum acknowledged Stanton, who performed well in occasional relief in Detroit, likely could earn more elsewhere.

I think Cleveland felt betrayed when Lebron left too, sorry Drew....its a business, just like if you played well and wanted more money, then left for another team....

sucks for Stanton, but them are da breaks.....only thing guaranteed when signing a FA contract is the guaranteed money you get.......things change and you can't blame NY for making a move they feels improves their team.

So does Tebow. And Staton was never beating out Sanchez
Sanchez is about as safe in his role as Caleb Hanie was the next great Qb in Chicago. Stanton had a great chance to replace Sanchez sometime this year....but not now....

Stanton got screwed. NY jets are in Panic mode. They had to extend Sanchez for cap help, they made their bed, and then brought in the bed bugs too to be safe.

Enjoy Tebow Ryan, all the way to the unemployment line.

The Jets announced that they traded Stanton to the Colts. Terms of the trade were undisclosed; presumably the Colts will send a late-round draft pick to the Jets.

Stanton was a second-round draft pick of Matt Millen’s Detroit Lions in 2008, and he played in 12 games during his tenure in Detroit, starting four. For his career he has completed 104 passes of 187 passes for 1,158 yards, with five touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Stanton got a $500,000 signing bonus from the Jets, so it’s been a profitable week for him. In Indianapolis he’ll likely be the No. 2 quarterback to Andrew Luck.

:wow: I am shocked. Nice job by NYJets to give the kid a chance elsewhere, they coulda just said tough.

I also like Stanton as a back up for Luck.

nice deal for the Jets. They sign a guy as a FA.....turn around and find someone they like better and deal that FA signing for a pick to take some sting out of what they gave for Tebow. Say it's just a 6th rd pick. Means in essence they Traded a 4th for Tebow and a 7th. So move down 3 rounds and pick up Tebow. Nice deal overall.
