So where will Brandon Marshall play in 2009?

So where is Marshall going to land? Or is he going anywhere?

Personally I don't think he's going anywhere. If he does, who do you think pulls the trigger on this guy?

I think a trade happens, but really don't know where. Teams are just not overly eager to give up much to get a receiver these days, or for that matter, even a running back. Teams like to get their receivers in the draft, and the same goes for running backs these days with the multiple back systems.

Add to that, his baggage has to be a detraction. What owner/GM feels comfortable with the idea that Marshall won't see any suspensions over the next 2-3 years?

I heard connections to Tampa, at least from his end.

I had mentioned in a different post that maybe something involving Michael Clayton and a decent draft pick would be fair. Too many new factors in Denver to have any kind of malcontented star. They need him out of there.

I somewhat agree with Birdman.....not sure he will be moved.

then again, bowlan suppposedly said he would try...and they did deal Cutler.

I like the following:
cleveland...but not for Cribs....watch for a deal involving Edwards and picks for Marshall. Just a gut feeling...but I think they are holding Edwards out to still deal him...not a real injury issue. Again...just my gut on this.

Chicago - yes they love their youngsters...and they should from all accounts...but to be able to add marshall...who knows Cutler....would be solid.

Baltimore....of all the teams...baltimore may be able to pay more...cause the need is greater.

Great Point! Teams will try and draft their WRs if they can. You normal have 5 or 6 on your roster anyhow. And you don't even have to invest in a top pick unless your WR corp is in bad shape. You can draft one in the second one year and the third next year and stick them in the rotation and see what happens for a couple of years. The same is true with RBs because of The Running Back By Commitee aproach. You don't always have to be looking for the totally complete RB anymore. You can draft a back that is quick, catchy and a kick returner to boot. Then you don't need a top 10 or top 5 back to have an impactful running game. If you do have one all the better.

If a top WR does become available I have to consider The Bucs in the chase. They have shown signs of interest in the Free Agent WR market all along. Reading between the lines it seems that they may actually have 8-10 million in cap space to do it. You can't be sure about cap space as you don't really know unless a team actually tells you but it seems like they are looking the whole time. That said, I am thinking that Buffalo has to be congratulated for grabbing Terrell Owens fast. They are the only team that has actually upgraded their WR Corps this entire off-season.

Meanwhile, months and months of speculation has droned on and on about a handful of WRs, none of whom have actually been available in the reality.

Wow, a one line rant, from me that's pretty rare!

All signs point to Denver. Everything I'm hearing from the local media indicates Marshall is completely without leverage. Unless a team throws a deal at the Donks ala. Roy E. Williams and doles out multiple picks he's going to be a Bronco this season.

What we've learned from Doogie's personality is he will cut off his nose to spite his face. In the case of retaining last season's offensive staff he canned them despite having one of the most productive offenses in the NFL. Likewise he sent a Pro-Bowl quarterback in his mid twenties packing because "he didn't fit the system" despite massive uproars. Now, he has a knucklehead receiver who is wanting out. To "show him who's boss" I can more than imagine Marshall not being traded at all this season.

I'd love a Clayton/Marshall trade personally.

I've been hearing buzz about Baltimore being interested.

The Clayton trade would be interesting but how much more will Denver get ala draft pick(s) / other players...?

Baltimore keeps getting mentioned but any substance of what that might consist of known?

I would have to include Jax. Not that I expect Holt to return to his Pro Bowl / dominance days but because of how undependable the Jag's WR corps has been.

The more I talk about it, the more I love the Marshall to TB theory.

If for no other reason than to observe the super smooth clubhouse chemistry between such high-character players as Marshall, Antonio Bryant, and Soulja Winslow. Not to mention up-and-coming diva Talib.

I am sorry, but if I am Denver why the heck would I want Clayton???

It is one reason I like the Cleveland trade. Swapping troubled Wrs gets equal talent...plus Cleveland sweetening with picks.

Well, it would be Clayton, a 1st round draft pick and runner up to Ben Rothlisberger for the rookie of the year (see how I talked that up... I know he blows), and a draft pick next year (likely), for Marshall.

Marshall, Bryant, Winslow

Ward, Graham, Williams

Leftwitch, McCown, Freeman???

They're never getting higher than a 3rd plus a decent player for a guy who went public with his discontent. That wipes out any leverage the old team has.
