So if Steve Smith goes to San Diego...

...does he jump into your top 10? The rumor is swirling around and it makes sense for both teams. Smith is still an excellent talent and has been weighed down by the fact that Carolina's QB's have been the worst in the league the last 4 years.

I can only imagine the production that he would have with Rivers chucking the rock at him.

To me this is the same as Boldin last year. Everyone was thrilled he went to Baltimore and would BE the passing offense. Nope, they still had a guy named Mason and a Rb named Rice.

He would go to a team with Gates at TE, V.Jackson at Wr(assuming he plays this year....) and then the receiving rbs. I don't think he sniffs that much.

He will be solid if he goes to SD, but not the stud he was. No way. If he ends up in Baltimore, he will really suck.

Would he just jump into my top ten, probably not. He has the capability but not really the probability I would hope to have in a number # 1 WR.

If you look at drafting in most leagues (12 team leagues is the norm) I am not sure he would fit the bill as a number one WR on most fantasy rosters. Maybe a nice gamble as a #2 WR which would put him more in the 13 -25 range so he would probably go very quickly as people look to draft their #2 WR.

Steve Smith revealed that he played through a quadriceps injury in his left leg in addition to a mid-season high ankle sprain last year "It just kind of spiraled from there," Smith said. "Did I lose a step? Anyone would lose a step when you're playing on one leg. I just tried to play through it, and ultimately I looked slow. Instead of 31, I looked 41." Smith also admits to frustration with Jimmy Clausen and pressing to try to make too much happen on offense. "I let my teammates down," said Smith. "I felt bad about it. I don't want to experience that again ... I know I can still play. I know it." Turning 32 this week, Smith believes he can play at least five more seasons.

A tough call here by Smith. When you blame injuries for a tough year at his age it can on one hand explain an off year production wise. But on the other hand it can make you wonder if maybe he is too old to stay healthy if you are a prospective new team.
