In addition to Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon, Kansas State WR Deon Murphy, Western Kentucky LB Blake Boyd, and Southern Miss WR Torris Magee have been deemed eligible for the July 16 Supplemental Draft. Florida State WR Corey Surrency and Central Michigan OT Joe McMahon are also eligible.

Only Jarmon is sure to be drafted, but Magee (6'2/214) offers NFL size and averaged 14.4 YPC on 44 grabs in 2007 before an injury ruined '08 season. Surrency is a talent, but has a laundry list of character red flags.

Murphy was a Jr college transfer whose paperwork got screwed up and got to be a junior for two years as a result. He was senior this year but I can't find out much about what happened. His coach described Murphy as a talent and a guy "that makes you pull your hair out". There is very little info I can find about how this came about as the info is just not there. But what I read seems to indicate he showed up at camp and flapped with the coach but is all seems very vague.

Sorry I don't have anything more difinative but when my harddrive crashed I lost some great bookmarks to info on college players.

March 27, 2009 - Wide receiver Deon Murphy has left the Kansas State football team. While no reason has been given, it appears he and coach Bill Snyder weren't playing nice.

Murphy's departure means the Wildcats will likely lean more heavily on Brandon Banks in 2009.

Coach Snyder doesn't put up with bullshit, period. I like Murphy, but he's not really anything special and he doesn't appear to have the determination to will his way onto an NFL team.

I dont see it that way. Murphy has some talent. He is going to have to work his way into it, but he has the tools to catch on.

Don't be surprised if Tampa takes a flyer on Murphy, if it doesn't cost them a real meaningful pick. R. Morris still has his KSU roots (see Josh Freeman) and the Bucs aren't exactly deep at WR.
Wouldn't be a bad fit (risk), actually.

DEF - NFL - 18 teams watch DE Jeremy Jarmon work

Source: Chip Cosby, The Lexington Herald-Leader

Chip Cosby, from the Lexington Herald-Leader, reports former University of Kentucky defensive end Jeremy Jarmon put his skills on display Thursday in front of representatives from 18 NFL teams at Nutter Field House.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The NCAA ruled Jarmon ineligible for his senior season after testing positive for a banned substance. Jarmon had a New Year's resolution to lose weight and had been taking some supplements to help slim down. By all accounts Jarmon is a good kid that was unaware of the banned substances contained within the weight loss products. Jarmon has applied for next Thursday's NFL Supplemental Draft and has been working out in Nashville for the past several weeks.

Jarmon is an option for the NFL's upcoming supplemental draft. He ran the 40-yard dash between 4.75 and 4.84 seconds. Jarmon was listed at 6-foot-3 1/8 and 278 pounds.

from MFL Player News:
(Rotoworld) NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that Jeremy Jarmon will likely be selected between the third and fifth rounds of Thursday's Supplemental Draft. Analysis: Calling Jarmon "a very good football player," Lombardi says he's spoken to personnel men from at least four teams that are high on the Kentucky defensive end. Jarmon would fit nicely as a developmental left end in a 4-3 scheme.

Like an open in a poker game. They just keep going around in order until someone says "I'll take him" (2nd, 3rd, 4th, .... however far it goes)

depends on the round they give up to draft them......I can't see anyone every giving a first.

Ok.......

So, say Im Team A. I had a 1, 2, 3, 5, and two 7s in the 09 draft

I took Jarmin in the 5th round of the supplemental draft

Next year I have a 1, 1, 3, 4, 5, two 6s, and a 7

What happens? Im trying to understand the process.

not sure I follow your example, but let me give you one that I think will help:
you have a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 in the 2010 draft (I think you can only use YOUR original picks, could be wrong though). In the 2009 supplemental draft you bit a 5th rd pick. No one with a higher rd 5 priority than you put in a bid for the 5th round. You would get that player, and forfeit the 5th round in the 2010 draft.

I think they use this years order for next years picks. ie; if you don't have your own 3rd next year (2010) but you have another teams 3rd you can use that pick in the 2009 order
