Should We Be Quittin' On Witten?

Guy has been in the league since 2003. He's logged 596 quarters of NFL football and turns 31 before next season starts. Worn out?

His value in fantasy is steady right now and NOW might be the time to shake him off your roster for a younger more productive player at a more prominent position. The TE position has a glut of young talented TE's so now might be your last chance to get something substantial for him.

NOT!

In case you haven't noticed, this guy is rapidly becoming an NFL hero. he's not a TD vulture (career 44) but 3 of the last 4 years he's eclipsed 1000 yrs.

2012 was a banner season for him despite the low TD number (3). 110 Receptions (NFL Record). and 1039 yds. (places him 3rd All-Time for TE career).

He also broke the NFL record for receptions in a single game (18) last year. he is also the Cowboys All-Time leader in receptions.

No, it's way too soon to think about trading this gem now. Gronk and Graham have had great seasons but Witten is there every year and has only missed 2 starts in the last 9 seasons.

Besides the phenomenal numbers for 2012, Witten was also awarded the "Walter Peyton NFL Man Of The Year Award" for his volunteer work in the Dallas area.

Keep this guy a few more seasons. Every record Tony Gonzalez breaks in 2013 Jason will be breaking right behind him.

It has always been a great FF mystery to me on why this guy isn't an automatic 10 TD guy. Despite blocking a lot in close, he should score 10 by accident considering how lame the Cowboys running game is in close.

Same thing with Andre Johnson. A 6'3" monster who has never had double digit TDs.

Were you responding to my thread or are we on the same wavelength??

Dude....You know I don't respond to you.

I was taking a stab at the v-bucks booty at the same time you were. Apparently we were both suckered in by the "...star on any roster" comment Mud made so we chose a Cowboy to post about. (bet mike loves that). Bryant had already been posted about and Miles is a nobody so we both chose Witten.

By the way....Witten isn't the answer so it's back to the drawing board for both of us.

You should really read the Bio on this guy, E.

Just a great guy doing great things on and off the field. He's never in the headlines for anything other than football. No contract disputes, no domestic violence, no guns in bars, no speeding tickets, no bad words for ownership or management.

I think he's my new hero.

What's funny is, I went into the thread with the intent to bash him (and score the mystery player v-bucks) but the harder I tried to find proof he was finished the more enamored I became with him.

I know and it breaks my heart.

Thought I was soooo clever figuring the star. Now thinking its not even a football player.

witten is ALWAYS blocking in the red zone. it used to infuriate me to no end. now i just dont draft him
