rotoworld,
Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn said that playing time between Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson will be "situational."

Lynn says he sees himself as having "two starters," adding that Tomlinson will get more touches in the Jets' nickel package. We already knew that Greene wasn't going to catch more than a handful of passes this season, so there's no need to panic. Although Greene came into the offseason program seven pounds overweight, he's ticketed for the vast majority of early-down work in the Jets' run-heavy scheme.

Most don't seem real concerned about Greene losing a lot of touches to LT but if I was a Greene owner I'd be worried big time. *There's no way that Greene will put up the same fantasy numbers as last season if LT stays healthy.

* Edited to say that he won't be the stud RB everyone seems to be forecasting if LT stays healthy.

rotoworld however thinks a lot less of the aging LT.

Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn compared LaDainian Tomlinson's projected role to Leon Washington's from the last few seasons.

Washington had 87 offensive touches through seven games last season while complementing Thomas Jones. The problem is that Tomlinson is no longer a difference-maker on early downs and we expect him to be relegated to strict passing-down duty. Tomlinson won't force Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to get the ball in his hands like Washington did.

You're on Tekie! I guess it's a bit late to say his average numbers per games started huh? You got me on this one unless he breaks his leg.

Since these are his numbers from SOFFL II last season I'm doomed without an injury to him or LT. I've read too much of the hype about him for this season and had forgot that he only had one great game last season. My odds are slim but I have hope. Either one could break a leg, lol.

I'm starting to strongly dislike the folks at rotoworld,
One anonymous NFL GM with multiple Super Bowl rings told the New York Post that "If you watch the films from the end of last year, [LaDainian Tomlinson] had nothing left."

See, it's not just us at Rotoworld that think Tomlinson is shot. The Post goes on to say that Tomlinson looked a three steps slow at minicamp, something that should be expected after nine straight years of incredible workloads. The Jets should quickly realize that signing Tomlinson was a mistake and keep his touches to a minimum, even though they are raving about him now.

(KFFL) New York Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinsonsaid during an interview with ESPN's Sal Paolantonio that he believes he competing with RB Shonn Greenefor the team's starting running back job. "I think the best man is gonna win the starting job," Tomlinson said. "I'm tired of being doubted by so many people about what I can do,"

I see Shonn as a valid #1 RB and LT as no more than a cuff. He will come in on some passing downs, but Shonn will handle 70% of the work and more when leading in the 4th.

--own neither in any league but feel Shonn is a first corner pick and the #7 RB--

I paid a heavy price to own them both, so we shall see.

Dont see a problem if you own both but if LT thinks he has remote chance of competing for the #1 RB spot he dont have chance, maybe if he can turn back the clock 4-5 years.

LT may see his share of red zone touches but thats about it, 12 to 15 touches a game and with rookie RB Joe McKnight getting in on the action might be less.

Wake up LT your all but done.

That is what I'm thinking on LT this year. Last year he was the king of the 1 yd TD.

(Rotoworld) The Jets' feelings are "clear" that Shonn Greene can replace Thomas Jones' production as the starter, according to the team's official website. Analysis: Fullback Tony Richardson also acknowledged that Greene will be "starting the game" as "the guy" this year. Jets coaches have gone out of their way not to alienate venerable newcomer LaDainian Tomlinson, but it's telling that the team's official website concedes that Greene is the starter. We have the star of last year's playoff run rated as a top-12 fantasy back.

Color me stupid and I've been off of the LT bandwagon for three years but I'm not convinced that he's cannon fodder quite yet.

rotoworld,
Coach Rex Ryan referred to Shonn Greene as the Jets' "bell cow" running back in a post-practice press conference Tuesday, and says he's "been really impressed with Shonn" in training camp.

"Everyone knows the kind of runner he is, the kind of ability he has when the ball's under his arm," said Ryan, adding that Greene is "much better in the pass protection game." Ryan tried to save face by lightly praising LaDainian Tomlinson, but the backfield is Greene's moving forward. His improvement in blitz pickup also bodes well for a few more receiving opportunities.

L.T. Limps Off the Field --
Thu Aug 12, 2010 --from FFMastermind.com
CBS Sports reports New York Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson was seen limping off the field during afternoon practice and then having his ankle looked at. He remained on the field with the other players but did not appear to go back into practice.

Maybe I divorced LT a year too early back in 2008, but I remain unconvinced that his injury prone body can handle the abuse he wants to put it through in 2010 to convince us all he's still the wonder he once was. Some injuries damage more than the ligaments and tendons.

And that brings up a great point. This is a smash mouth, down hill, run first offense. Can he take the pounding of even 100 quality carries?
