Seahawks agreed to terms with RB Edgerrin James on a one-year, $2 million contract.

This is what happens when you watch Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett for too long. We suspect James won't start immediately, but it could happen in time. Initially, he'll be a role player that will cut deeply into Jones' workload. James can still get what's blocked and is effective on passing downs, but he's an ordinary player now. This makes all three Seattle committee backs late-round fodder.

He did fine last year and was held back by the Coach. In the end, the Coach needed him and Edge helped them get in and win in the playoffs. He can help a team, and is already the best back on the Seahawks!

Ahhhh....hmmmm....not sure what to make of this....

Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmmmmm....

Only thing I can really think of at the moment is some extra blocking protection for Hasselbeck, but I'm not a coach. Someone needs to humor me on this...:banghead:

I was personally keeping an eye on Justin Forsett as a deep sleeper running a Maurice Morris type of role.. Guess that's all but ruled out now.

I was close to gambling on JJ in a few leagues - glad I decided against it.

The 2 should manage fine for the team if the rest of the team holds together - injury bug already a factor if I remember the Seahawk thread correctly. Not excited about their fantasy value though.

I was just about to gamble on JJ again.....glad I had not yet.

I like this signing for Seattle. James still has some left in his tank and will be valuable in a limited role. He should be the starter very soon IMO. Jones becomes a wasted pick and TJ will stay in his short yardage role.

Fine timing now that the O-Line is in the crapper. (at least temporarily).

Was kinda hoping Edge could end his career with a little dignity. Now I just hope he ends it with some mobility.

My thinking also. I was hoping he would have went to a contender and not a pretender.

BTW, i still think seattle has the nastiest uniforms around. What is up with that puke color blue. My favorite uniforms are still the Bengals.

I would expect JJ and James to develop some type of time share in the backfield. I would not be surprised if James gets the bulk but they will want to minimize the number of touches as long as they are in contention so he remains fresh.

TJ has been underwhelming so far in his career and I see no reason to think that will change this season.

While we can all agree that James' best days are long, long past him he is still a good fit here and IMO the best RB they have.

that is good news if your looking to scoop James, he will get the short yardage carries. I do see this as a RBBC, but look for James to be a much more consistent FF producer of the two. Forsett won't see much action IMO unless one of the two in front of him goes down.

I will disagree with Miller. I have just seen a couple stories, where Forsett is catching everything and prefering him over JJ as the change of pace 3rd down back. I think the RBBC will end up Edge and Forsett...with JJ maybe used some for blow..but alot less.

Just my opinion though....reading into things.

He should be the most effective RB for Seattle.

Forsett will probably be the change of pace and JJ will probably be used to limit EJs touches. EJ will be valuable in PP with the Oline problems and is very adept behind a zoneblocking system. How much gas in the tank is probably the only concern.

At least the opposing Ds will have to consider a run threat now. This should help out Hass and the pass O quite a bit

Jones injury could be season-ending
The News
According to NFL.com, league sources are saying that the injury to Seahawks' offensive lineman Walter Jones could be season-ending. The team is saying Jones will be back in four to six weeks, but because of his age and size it may be longer than that.
Our View
If Jones were to miss the season, it would be devastating for Seattle. He is still the heart and soul of the team's offense, and every one of the skill players would be affected by his absence. We will continue to follow this story, but don't be shocked if he is out for longer than originally expected.

De La Puente signed by Seattle
The News
According to the Twitter page of Seahawks' beat writer Danny O'Neil, the team has signed offensive lineman Brian De La Puente. De La Puente was released by the Chiefs earlier this summer.
Our View
De La Puente is a big body who will provide some depth for the Hawks over the rest of the preseason. If he would make the final roster, he would be a backup at both guard positions for the team.
