rotoworld,
The Chargers are expected to threaten to reduce the restricted free agent tenders of Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill if they don't sign their one-year offers before June 15.

Both players received first- and third-round tenders valued above $3 million, but only good for 2010. McNeill and V-Jax want long-term contracts. The Bolts, though, could lower the tender offers to roughly $600K after June 15.

No, no, no...

WR Malcom Floyd, restricted free agent, could sign his one-year $3.168 million contract tender with the Chargers as soon as Monday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. "I don't think there was anything more to gain by sitting out," Floyd said Monday. He could be back at practice Tuesday.

Any news on a suspension for V Jax yet?
Until he signs his tender, he is officially not under contract. So I doubt the NFL would touch him. Once he signs his tender, or gets a contract of some kind....there will be some kind of action.

I think this is one reason Vincent will hold out for an extension....as I think he is gonna get some kind of punishment.

(cbssports.com)Vincent Jackson is currently an unsigned restricted free agent, tendered at the highest level to deter other teams from signing him. The Chargers played hardball with him in that regard, refusing to talk about a long-term deal, and now Jackson is playing hardball back. The San Diego Union-Tribune cites sources that say Jackson is prepared to sit out for part or all of the 2010 season if a new deal isn't reached. Making things more complicated is a letter the Chargers sent to Jackson notifying him that if he doesn't sign his tender offer by June 15, his salary for 2010 will be drastically cut by over $2 million.

Analysis: Jackson is taking a hard line with the Chargers now, but we'd be shocked if he passed up the offer currently on the table. We suppose June 15 is now an important date to keep in mind for Jackson's prospective Fantasy owners since if he does not sign his one-year tender or get a contract extension and continues to talk about a holdout, he might just follow through. When he's on the Chargers' roster, though, he's easily their best wide receiver and a No. 1 option worth a pick between the middle of Rounds 2 and 3 in drafts.

I'm in trouble if he sits out the season. Dumbassp!

rotoworld,
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that unsigned restricted free agents Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill do not plan to report for the start of training camp and quite possibly well beyond without new contracts.

The San Diego Union-Tribune first reported this story on Tuesday, but Schefter takes it a step further by saying "San Diego might have to make plans to move on without either player." Both Pro Bowlers want long-term deals in line with some of the highest paid players at their respective positions. Out of all the unhappy restricted free agents out there, V-Jax's situation now warrants the closest monitoring.

The Chargers need to do what ever it takes to get V.Jackson on the field, yes will most likely win the AFC West without Jackson but could hinder there chances of advancing further. Malcolm Floyd wont be a threat to any CB and is not a viable replacement if V-Jax sits out for the season

(RotoWire) Jackson does not plan to sign either his current or reduced contract tender with the Chargers, and as a result does not plan to report for the start of training camp, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: The Chargers sent Jackson a letter informing him that his salary would be cut if he doesn't sign his contract tender by next week, and it appears as though Jackson has no plans to budge on his desire to obtain a new and lucrative long-term deal that would reward his on-field performance.

rotoworld,
One general mananger told NFL Fanhouse's Thomas George that he "fully expects" some of the NFL's underpaid stars to hold out "well into the season" if they don't get paid this summer.

Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill of the Chargers, Darrelle Revis and Nick Mangold of the Jets, Chris Johnson of the Titans, and Andre Johnson of the Texans are the highest-profile players making waves this offseason. Teams are hesitant to commit in an uncertain economic environment, but the players realize this is one of the few times they'll have leverage. Expect these players to remain in the spotlight throughout training camp.

The Chargers concede that newly signed Josh Reed will not be a replacement for Vincent Jackson should the restricted free agent miss time this season.

V-Jax and Malcom Floyd are primarily down-field threats wheres Reed is a possession receiver working the middle of the field. "Josh and Buster [Davis] are going to compete for those types of plays," coach Norv Turner said. Legedu Naanee would start opposite Floyd if V-Jax sits out.

rotoworld,
It's increasing likely that unsigned restricted free agents Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill will sit out the first 10 games, according to beat writer Kevin Acee.

The timeline is a result of NFL players need six games to earn an accrued season. V-Jax and McNeill have everyone convinced that they are deathly serious about following through with this holdout and things will only get worse if/when the Chargers reduce their tenders on Tuesday. Chargers' GM A.J. Smith isn't one to get backed into a corner, so this situation isn't going away anytime soon.

rotoworld,
Chargers unsigned restricted free agents Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill have reportedly made "financial preparations" in advance of executing lengthy holdouts that could last through Week 10 of the regular season.

Updating a previous item, the players' one-year tenders have not yet been formally reduced, leaving a "slight chance" that Jackson and McNeill could still sign at some point Tuesday. Should V-Jax fail to report until after Week 10, he'd stand to lose a whopping $3.062 million. The same course of action by McNeill would cost the four-year starting left tackle $2.956 million.

cbssports.com,
Chargers WR Vincent Jackson did not sign his restricted free-agent tender before the June 15 deadline, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune, and is reportedly prepared for a lengthy holdout from the team. Jackson would have been under contract for one year at over $3.2 million had he signed the tender, but now his offer can be reduced to 110 percent of his 2009 salary, which is $583,000. Sources say that Jackson is prepared not to play with the Chargers until Week 10, when he must show up and finish the season in order to earn an accrued season under the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Analysis: Suddenly there's some risk in drafting Jackson in Fantasy play. If he wasn't willing to sign his tender for $3.2 million for the 2010 season, there's nothing that makes us believe he'll sign the same tender for roughly $2.5 million less. That suggests he'll either wait until Week 10 to play or wait for a contract extension from the Chargers -- and we doubt the Bolts will dish out the bucks quickly on this one. Typically we figure that a player in a contract squabble will eventually show up for training camp, but this case is different given the financial circumstances, and therefore the uncertainty surrounding Jackson makes him a potential nightmare. We can't fully endorse drafting him as a No. 1 WR knowing that he might be unavailable for much of the regular season, so until he's under a contract with the Chargers (or any team), think of him as a quality No. 2 Fantasy WR worth a pick between Rounds 4 and 5. Do not be the owner to reach for him in Rounds 2 or 3 until he has a deal in place.

He's killing my keeper team, just plain out killing it.
