Sgt John
Sith Lord of T&A
Since I know how much you all love it :biglaugh:
Who didnt impress me:
The Texas Longhorns Offense - Im not sure what that crap was, but at least there was some downfield passing. UCLA pretty much ruined the Houston Cougars last week and come to Austin this week well capable of doing the same again.
Texas A&M - FIU was the better team by far at Kyle Field. They just ran out of depth. The Aggies have yet to play a soul, and this has to be concerning entering the meat of the schedule.
Iowa Hawkeyes - The Hawkeyes waited a couple minutes too long to flex their muscle and it likely cost them dearly. This was a team well capable of beating Ohio State and Penn State at home. The dream may have died in the sands of Arizona Saturday night....
Michigan Defense - Good Lord guys.... 37 points to UMASS is a horrible Saturday. If this team is going to make a bowl game, they are going to have to get some performance out of the defense and stop expecting the offense...well, the QB to do it all.
Mobilehoma - The Sooners came out and NEARLY let Air Force carpet bomb the trailer park in Norman. This is a team who appears to show up for big games but not for the small ones. Somewhere down the line its going to cost them dearly.
Mark Richt - I know losing AJ Green to an ill advised garage sale is hard, but you HAVE to coach your guys past this. Georgia right now is headed to a 6-6 season, and that will include having to win this Saturday at much improved Mississippi State. You never know when they are going to pop up, but this is the most important game in Mark Richts career. Mullin's guys pull the upset and I think Richt better fire up the UHAUL.
Cincinnati - We've all seen the destruction going on up there. If a team picked to finish at the top of the Big East hasnt hit the panic button yet, they better hit it now. Nothing about this team impresses me, and I could easily see them go from BCS bowl to No Bowl.
Who did impress me this week:
The Texas Longhorns Defense - This maybe Will Muschamps finest creation yet. How many more games they can carry Garrett Gilbert and a sputtering offense is anyone's guess, but bottomline, they take souls. I dont care who you are, almost NO ONE holds Texas Tech to 158 yards in the air. Remember the name Jackson Jeffcoat folks, because you will be seeing him carrying off the Lombardi before its said and done. As it stands UCLA better keep a stretcher ready for Kevin Prince, because win or lose Saturday afternoon that boy is going to taste some pain.
TCU - The Horned Frogs continue to impress me week in and week out. I expected them to cruise over Baylor by 3 or 4 scores, but the brutal manner in which they throttled Baylor better make people pay attention. The Frogs have the horses to win the BCS National Championship if they get there. Oh...and QB Andy Dalton? All he did was complete 91% of his passes.
Alabama - I will give the devil hi$ due. The Crimson Tide looked impressive as ever in flattening hapless Duke. Mark Ingram looks fully recovered from his knee issue, a sad sight for you SEC fans facing off with $aban's guys later this year.
Oklahoma State - Perpetual "40 year old" Mike Gundy has done a fine job with a very young team picked to finish near the bottom of the Big 12 South. Okie St has rolled out to a 3-0 record and the offense is averaging over 50 points a game. (Of course the defense is also trying to average 50 points a game too). We will find out how real the Cowboys are when they meet Texas A&M after both teams bye weeks September 30th.
Stanford - None of you may have noticed, because I didnt really see it myself till this week, but the Cardinal has been crushing opponents in rolling out to a 3-0 record. Stanford followed up a 35-0 demolition of UCLA by hanging 68 on Wake Forest in a 44 point win. Next up: A trip to a reeling Notre Dame in desparate need of a big win.
Denard Robinson - I think this guy is trying to set a NCAA record for total team offense...by himself. Somewhere down the line "Shoelace" is going to get tripped up, but thus far he has been a pleasure to watch. Even made us all forget about Tate Forcier.
Ill close by offering up thoughts and prayers to Coach Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartan family. Godspeed and a quick recovery sir.
Thats my rap for the week. Thoughts Outlaws?
