The AFC East -
Miami - Beat Green Bay in overtime, begging to be a pretty common thing in the NFL. The combo back known as "Ricky Brown" picked up 137 yards while Brandon Marshall trashed the suspect Green Bay secondary. The Dolphins are right on track for a wildcard birth about 1/3 of the way in.
Buffalo - First Sunday all season Buffalo didnt embarress itself. Oh yeah, it was the bye week. Expect Baltimore to continue Bills mediocrity this weekend.
NY Jets - Didnt play all that well and managed to beat Denver, but did hold Orton under 300 yards for the first time all year I believe. LT his the bye week at just the right time, and should be a fantasy beast in the following four weeks.
New England - Did what I thought would be impossible without Randy Moss, and beat Baltimore. Pay attention to Deion Branch, because I think as long as the knee holds up he will continue to be a solid WR2 play in fantasy. Im interested to see what they do to the Chargers this weekend.
AFC North -
Pittsburgh - Welcome back to Fantasy relevance Hines Ward. Cheeseburger and Co looked pretty solid in defeating Cleveland. Ben will see his first real test this weekend against the Dolphins.
Baltimore - They needed that win last weekend. Badly. With the Steelers kicking so much tail, Baltimore may very well need 13 wins to bring home the division title. The loss to Cincinnati may be more costly than we know.
Cincinnati - Comes off the bye week with Ocho's non performing mouth in full effect headed to a date with the Falcons. At this point, it looks like TO is the guy to start and Ocho is the guy to sit. Pay attention to Benson as the weather gets colder and running becomes more the norm in the Bengals offense.
Cleveland - No one expected the Browns to beat the Steelers, and few expected Colt McCoy to do so well. 281 yards, a score and a couple of turnovers, in my opinion, equals a pretty impressive debut for a rookie against the best D in the NFL. Mangina....leave the boy in there.
AFC South -
Houston - Damn near managed to lose to the Chiefs this weekend. Next year thats a game KC wont blow. IDP guys pay attention as the Texans have lost LB Ryans for the year. Not sure who will replace him, but a suspect defense to begin with took a pretty big blow. The bye comes at a good time for Houston.
Titans - Crushed Jacksonville. The biggest story in this game was how many people across fantasy won or lost on the late CJ2K TD. No, really..there was nothing else to say about this game, yet it still crushed Rangers/Yanks in the ratings.
Jacksonville - Personally Im trading for Jennings and Karim where I can because MJD is going to get killed before the season is over. Jacksonvilles QB situation has to be the worst in the NFL outside Carolina.
AFC West
Kansas City - Damn fine effort against Houston. I really thought for awhile theyd pull off the win. Keep Cassel, Charles, McCluster, Jones, and Moeaki on your radar the next four weeks, as the fantasy points should be plentiful. Chris Chambers was inactive with a hurt finger last week. Only 3 people's teams in America were affected by this late scratch, and two were Chambers and his mom.
San Diego - Sucks. Worse yet, likely NO Gates this week. Even more bad news: New England is coming to town. God help the Chargers.
Denver - Almost pulled it off against the Jets. I think its probably time to savely believe in Brandon Lloyd. Oakland comes to town this weekend, and there is a chance Kyle Boller will be under center. Roughly translated, this means you can actually start the Denver D.
Oakland - Is in real QB trouble. Gradkowski and Campbell will be trying to fight through injuries to play this week and avoid the turnover machine known as Kyle Boller. Can they like...I dont know..pick up Keith Null or something...... Probably a fantasy situation to avoid this weekend.
NFC East
Dallas - Sam Hurd and Miles Austin are both dumbasses. Really guys, lets save the celebration for when you actually WIN a game. This was a horrible loss, but still, somehow, the Cowboys are only 2.5 games out of first in the suddenly atrocious NFC East. Wade....its time to bench Barber.
If you are a Cowboys fan, pray for the Chin in 2011. ESPN reports Dallas will kickoff this weekend with 4 penalties for 40 yards......
Washington - Proved nothing in the loss to the Colts. Indy did everything but refuse to play the second half in trying to hand the game to the Redskins, and they refused to take the win. Dynasty guys, you should have already picked up Armstrong. Kid can do it all.
Philadelphia - Overcame the loss of DJax to whip the Falcons. Kolb had another solid outing. Jeremy Maclin played his ass off. Question is now, who do you want under center once Vick is healthy again?
New York Giants - What was a trainwreck team has turned into my favorites to claim the NFC East crown no one seems to want. Got a win against Detroit, and this week gets Dallas, who rest assured will make sure the Giants get another win, no matter how many flags they have to get.
NFC North
Chicago -Got it put on em by Seattle. Game the Bears should have won, no doubt about it. Still, with no one in the division wanting to win, they are in pretty good shape. Interesting game this weekend vs the Redskins. I have a feeling Chester Taylor will score in this one. Dont know why.
Green Bay - Once again did jack crap in the running game, picking up a lousy 76 yards, which led them to another OT loss. Worse yet, they failed to trade for the available Marion Barber. 3-3 Green Bay is going to regret not having a run attack as the season moves on. In fantasy news, it was nice to see the first real appearance of Greg Jennings.
Minnesota - Should NOT have beat Dallas, but then again they let everyone beat them. Randy Moss impressed me by riling up the troops heading into the second half. Headache Harvin caused the opposition migraines for the second straight week, and I hear Rice is about ready.
Green Bay vs Minnesota this Monday in THE must win game of the 2010 season league wide thus far.
Detroit - As Ive said most of the year, keep the faith Lions fans. Good effort in the loss to the Giants last weekend, and now a much needed bye week to get back Stafford and rest Best. Im calling the Lions upset of Washington in Week 8 right now.
NFC South
Tampa Bay - Past Freeman having a good year, Im not really sure what the hell this team is up to these days. Bad loss to the World Champions this past Sunday, but even in defeat Freeman wasnt bad. The big question for Bucs fans to tell me is who is going to step up and take control of this running game? 3 RBs, a QB, and a WR carried the ball. Not one of them did jack crap.
New Orleans - Who the hell is Christopher Ivory? Hell of a way to make your "real" NFL debut, totalling up 175 yards in the Saints blowout. Sounds like they definately have their RB3....if RB1 and RB2 ever do come back.
If Ivory goes again, he gets a wonderful matchup against Cleveland. Pay attention guys.
Atlanta - Got butt-rammed by the Eagles. No other way to say it. This team still has growing to do. From a fantasy perspective, the game this week versus Cincinnati is very interesting to say the least.
Carolina - Clausen benched in favor of Matt Moore. One or two of you may care about this. At this point the Panthers offense has zero people you can realistically start anyway. San Francisco comes to town this weekend. If bad QB play excites you, this is your game of the year.
NFC West
San Francisco - Beat the Raiders. Not shocking with Jason Campbell under center. Good to see Franklin Gore get untracked a bit. This week they square off against the NFLs best offense...on opposite day....
Pay attention to Josh Morgan. Guy seems to be trending toward a monster game, and trust me, the atrocious Carolina offense is going to keep San Francisco on offense. Alot.
Seattle - Beat the Bears last week, definately a needed win. The Forsett/Lynch combo not only looks like its going to be damn effective, its actually opening up the passing game. Keep an eye on Deon Butler, who caught 4-47 and a score in his first action as the Hawks #2. I think Arizona vs Seattle has the makings of a shootout.
Arizona - Comes off the bye with Max Hall at 1-0 and still no real idea what to do with Wells/Hightower. As stated above, I smell a shootout this weekend. Its safe to start all your Cards this weekend, expect Hightower.
St Louis - Great win for the franchise last week against the Chargers, who used to resemble a solid NFL team. Most of America has a waiver claim in on Danario Alexander. With each passing week Sam Bradford gets better and better. Id expect a 35-31 game this weekend against the Bucs.
Those are my random thoughts for now. Feel free to throw in yours
