Sgt John
Sith Lord of T&A
Jerry Jones said I get one more week to have 10 of you Thank this rant or he will replace me with Jason Garrett ...not like that guy is qualified to talk about football... Well, lets dig in people!
The AFC East -
Miami - Not much to say here. When your QB is still growing, you wont beat the Ravens with one turnover much less 3. Miami just fell victim to the Ravens playing a near perfect defensive game. Davone Bess still continues to have a fine season and why he is on any waiver wire is beyond me. Fins play this week at home against Randy Moss and the Titans. Given how this team is trending and its horrible home record, dont expect much this week.
Buffalo - Blew another one. Worse yet, the winless Bills lost WR Roscoe Parrish for the year to a broken wrist. Its going to fall completely on Lee Evans and Steve Johnson to catch the passes. CJ Spillar continues to be a non factor each week. Ive been waiting for a massive blowout of the Bills, and I think it comes this week when they play the Lions. You can turn the "Lights Out" on the Bills winning a game this season.
NY Jets - They slipped by the Lions. If this game went down a year later, the Lions would have won. Santonio Holmes finally showed up, and though Braylon Edwards didnt do much, when he stuck it was in a big way. Even the best teams slip by when they shouldnt, and that was this week for the Jets. This week is the resurgent Cleveland Browns. If the Jets dont bring their A game, they will lose.
New England - How do you beat New England? Pound the football and dont turn it over. The lack of a real deep threat (Moss) finally reared up this week. Wes Welker has largely disappeared. It was a bad game, but dont take anything away from Cleveland. Next up is a date with the Steelers. Expect it to get ugly.
AFC North -
Pittsburgh - I was shocked they took their foots off the Bengals throats, but thank Harrison for sealing the deal. The Steelers are my favorites in the AFC because unlike the Jets theyve consistently been there before. I expect Mendy to have a 120 yard game against the Pats, and I think this will be a season best week for Wallace and Ward. Now Roth has had a few games under his belt this offense is really going to start firing on all cylinders.
Baltimore - Bludgeoned the Dolphins. Just a dominating performance past the concerning disappearance of Anquan Boldin. Baltimore appears to be putting it all together, but they will face a short week against a pretty decent Atlanta team. Look for Boldin to show up in this game, just a hunch.
Cincinnati - "Another big game by TO, another loss by the Bengals." Starting to be redundant. Ive been waiting for the Ocho meltdown, and it finally happened. From a fantasy perspective Ocho is at best a WR5. Shipley is becoming a good start at WR3 or 4 if you need it each week. Im still waiting and hoping for a breakout game by Benson, but I fear the fat contract is slowing him down. Bears all over again. Dont expect a W this week against the wounded Colts either....
Cleveland - "Expect to see Peyton Hills, right, left, up, down, and any other direction they can hand him the ball, and lots of it." I called that one, but wow. Its time for me to admit I was wrong RC, Hillis IS a RB1. That McCoy TD run brought back memories. I say you leave the boy in there. Since becoming starter he has put together a 2-1 record and had three solid games. He will need to do a bit more to hang with the Jets this weekend, but Cleveland is definately headed in the right direction.
AFC South -
Houston - Boy did they screw the pooch on that one. The Colts are really trying to let this thing go to another team, and the Texans refuse to step up. This pass defense is horrible to the point Id use top draft picks next year and hope you find a couple Nate Allen types. Andre Johnson didnt do jack, and you cant blame the missign Owen Daniels, as the TEs caught 9 passes for 114 yards. This week the Texans face the Jags, a team they should outscore, and a win they MUST have.
Titans - After the off week, we now get to see what Randy Moss can (or will) do for this team. The Titans travel to Miami, so history suggests the Titans will get plenty of chances to win the game. Ill have much more to say after this weeks game.
Indianapolis - "dont be afraid to give a sniff to Jarvaris James in a pinch" Well if you did you got two TDs. Philly played a great game, but the Colts are really starting to run out of options on offense. Addai, Clark, Collie for half the game, Gonzalez, and Hart were missing. The injuries have brought this team back to earth. Though it was the first November loss since 2007, dont count out the Colts. I have a feeling Blair White will score at least once this week against the reeling Bengals.
Jacksonville - Coming off the bye the Jags face the Texans, making David Gerrard my hot start of the week. The Jags are still in this thing, though I dont know for how much longer. Tood Bouman was released this week, so at least you know the QBs are in good health. I expect a Karim TD this week. This is a must win game for the Texans, so again, Ill have more to say next week about the Jags and their chances going forward.
AFC West
Kansas City - This game really illustrated the shortfalls of Matt Cassel. He didnt play a bad game, but he didnt step up and really lead his team. Good will win you games, but its not going to win you championships, and this was a game the Chiefs really needed to win. Not sure whats gotten into Dwanye Bowe lately, but its hard to trust a guy when you know the end is coming, but youre not sure when. Chris Chambers should be given his outright release. What a joke. The Chiefs now play a Denver team who has had two weeks to prepare. This is a MUST win game for KC. Lets see if Cassel finally answers the bell.
San Diego - I truly believe Phillip Rivers had no idea who he was throwing to. Im positive he scanned the field on the first snap and just figured if there was a dude in a uniform there he could safely throw to him. Seyi Ajirotutu became the next "dude" to trash the Texans joke of a secondary. From the bottom of the roster to 4 receptions, 111 yards, and 2 TDs. San Diego hits the bye on an upward swing, but lets be honest. They NEED Antonio Gates out there if they want to have a chance to win the division. We will check back in Week 11 and see what the future holds, but VJax, Ajirotutu, and Floyd might be the best guys going forward.
Denver - Coming off the bye week the Broncos settle into the spoiler role facing KC. With a week of rest, I cant really tell you who will be the RB, but you shouldnt be using them anyway. Start Kyle Orton as you have all season, and dont forget Jabar Gaffney this week, who lit up KC in the past.
Oakland - They stepped up and found a way to win another big one over KC. McFadden continues to get the job done on a weekly basis, Murphy should be back after this weeks bye, and did the Raiders finally discover a reliable #2 WR in Jacoby Ford? Who will start at QB after the bye is another question mark we will have to wait to find out. I still think Gradkowski should be the starter, but in any even the Raiders are over .500 this late in the year for the first time in a long time.
NFC East -
Dallas - "Next up for the Cowgirls is a Sunday Night beatdown by the Green Bay Packers." Wow. I had no idea this would come that true. I rate the 45-7 demolition by Green Bay as the worst loss in Dallas history. Just total shame. With cuddly Wade finally gone, lets see if Jason Garrett has the balls to shake up the roster and find guys who want to play. I applaud Dez Bryant for his continued 110% effort during this entire disaster. I also will applaud Garrett if he benches Marion Barber. I still expect Romo to be placed on IR in the next two weeks and a look at Stephen McGee in a similar time frame. Next up is the surging, angry, and violent New York Giants. God help you Cowboys fans. God help you.
Washington - You can now officially not start any Washington RB. James Davis got paid to be kept on the PS for a reason. Portis might show back up. Torain is banged up. McNabb is playing with a banana peel under him. Gotta love the Rat huh? Next up is Philly. Vick shall run wild as punishment for his missing games.
Philadelphia - "did the Eagles find some heart on the bye?" They sure did. Just a solid win against the Colts. Now the Eagles face off with the Redskins, and with all the trash and uncertainty floating around that locker room, I think Philly is primed to blow out the Skins on Monday Night. I have a feeling Philly is going to take a turnover or two to the house.
New York Giants - "Eli may breach the 350 yard mark this week" In my defense the Giants so completely crushed the Hawks Eli spent the 4th quarter kicked back hanging out with the rest of the starters. This was the second consecutive 40 point game for the Giants, and the 3rd time theyve rolled up over 400 yards in the win streak. Start every swingin Giant you have this week, as I think they can hit 50 against Dallas this weekend. Giants vs Steelers in the Super Bowl? Dont laugh..it could happen.
NFC North
Chicago - They didnt do jack and still won. Very unimpressive, which honestly has summed up the season for the Bears. Still, they are 5-3 headed into a critical game against a Vikings team with their backs against the wall. Im not sure what to say. Im not sure what team will show up. Id still say go with Johnny Knox, but past that avoid the situation.
Green Bay - "Next up is Sunday Night Football versus Dallas, ie the primrose path to a big victory" And how. Green Bay either destroyed Dallas for the next 3 years, or they created a monster in 2011. I dont know which. Jones stepped up big with Donald Driver missing. James Starks came off PUP this week, so watch that one in the coming weeks. Packers have a bye this week.
Minnesota - Harvin is still playing his ass off. Good to see. Childress is still coach. Bad to see. Im thinking at this point, Wilf is going to fire Childress, he is just waiting till they they are out of contention. I believe the Vikes will get by the Bears this weekend, and its safe to start Harvin, Favre, Shiancoe, and Peterson. Dont be fooled by Bernard Berrian. He stumbles into decent games about as often as the rest of us drop a dish on the floor emptying the sink.
Detroit -Officially be worried if you own Stafford in a dynasty format. Dont be worried if you own Lions skill guys. Whether its Hill or Stanton, I expect the show to roll along. This is a team Im certain will contend very soon. This week is a game versus Fluffalo, and as I said earlier, I think the Lions are going to offensively explode this week.
NFC South
Tampa Bay - Played a hell of a game against the Falcons. I think the difference was the lack of a running attack, but in time that too will come to these young Bucs. Michael Spurlock should be owned in any format giving rewards for return yards. This week the Bucs get the woeful Panthers, so start all your Tampa guys with confidence.
New Orleans - Kicked the crap out of the Panthers, not that everyone doesnt do that anyway. The Saints march to the post season starts after this bye week, and many of you are trying to figure out who to cover your Brees bye with. We will know more about the status of Bush and Thomas after this week, but for your fantasy playoff (and Saints playoff) hopes, lets hope both are back.
Atlanta - Hard fought win this week over the Bucs. Nice to see a big time Turner sighting with over 100 yds and 2 TDs. This week Hotlanta gets a Thursday night tilt with the Ravens. Roddy had an off game, but expect him back this week in a big way. This is the chance for Atlanta to make a statement, but the Ravens did just throttle a pretty similar team. Lets see how grown up the Falcons are.
Carolina - A bad season just got worse. Matt Moore is on IR. The Panthers will likely to into the game with Mike Goodson at RB and two guys backing him up who were on waivers two days ago. Im expecting Tony Pike to start at QB over Jimmy Clausen, but it doesnt matter, Tampa Bay is going to kill them anyway.
NFC West
San Francisco - Here we go. Troy Smith should start against the resurgent 1st place Rams. Frank Gore is back for your fantasy pleasure, and lets not make light of this, its a huge game for both teams.
Seattle - They got their ass kicked by the Giants. Now Whitehurst did start, but its not like Hass would have survived anyway. Stil ldont drop Carlson off your dynasty teams, but dont be using him for now. Seattle faces Arizona this week, so there should be some life to the offense, but until we know for sure who is under center I cant recommend using any Seahawk.
Arizona - Arizona played their butts off against the Vikes, and came painfully close to sparing us all anymore Brad Childress crap. But lets be honest, when you let Brett Farve throw for almost 450 yards you just arent going to win. There is no stability at QB, no run game, and no defense. This week it may not matter, because Seattle is playing such bad football right now. If you own Fitz or Breston you can start them, but past that its too uncertain.
St Louis - The Rams are back in 1st again. As Ive said before, SJax has to be pleased to look around his locker room and see guys who are committed to winning. This is a must win game for the Rams, as the 9ers are the only team I think is a real threat to them winning the division. Those looking for a quick TE fix check out Daniel Fells. Ill have more to say after I see how the Rams handle the spotlight and Frank Gore.
Those are my random thoughts for now. Feel free to throw in yours
The AFC East -
Miami - Not much to say here. When your QB is still growing, you wont beat the Ravens with one turnover much less 3. Miami just fell victim to the Ravens playing a near perfect defensive game.
