Sith Lord of T&A
If anyone knows the name of a good proctologist, the Washington Redskins need one. That said, the Sarge would like to congradulate Chad Pennington on a fine career. On to the show:
The AFC East -
Miami - It took 3 QBs and a Wildcat to beat the Titans, but the Dolphins got the job done. Im not sure how to properly evaluate what will go down as the most unusual win of the year from an injury perspective. The Dolphis will likely go with Thigpen this week on Thursday against the Bears, and I smell a Dolphins win.
Buffalo - Finally won a game. Also lost CJ Spiller to a hamstring injury, though as Orgazmo said you probably wont notice. Fred Jackson owners rejoice, as he is now the only back in Buffalo. Start him with confidence in what should be a shootout with Cincinnati.
NY Jets - I thought this one was going to a tie, but once again Santonio Holmes arrives in the 5th QTR to save the Jets. The Jets held Peyton Hillis to 82 yards, and have yet to allow a 100 yard rusher this season. After back to back OT games, Im not sure what to make of the Jets at this point in the season. If the Jets show up to play, expect big fantasy days against the Texans this weekend.
New England - "Next up is a date with the Steelers. Expect it to get ugly." I expected ugly. I didnt think the Pats would be the ones laying the wood. NE played its best game of the season against the Steelers, and are hot again entering the showdown with the Colts this Sunday. Be careful jumping on the Gronk bandwagon just yet, but certainly get him off the waiver wire if he is available.
AFC North -
Pittsburgh - Hines Ward has a concussion. No one cares. NE beat the crap out of the Steelers, who seemed to find absolutely no rhythm. I dont think they are that bad, they just had a very bad game. This week the Steelers face Oakland coming off the bye. If Ward doesnt play, keep an eye on rookie WR Emmanuel Sanders, who also handles returns.
Baltimore - Boldin did show up, but the Ravens didnt until it was way too late. The Ravens needed this game and didnt get the job done. Matt Ryan and Roddy White picked apart one of the leagues better defenses. For this week, dont worry, as the Ravens play Carolina. If you are ravaged by injury, I think McGahee will get a score this weekend.
Cincinnati - "Another big game by TO, another loss by the Bengals." P Manning didnt throw a TD and the Bengals still lost. PK Nugent is out for the year. Ochocinco finally had a big game and came up hurt, so keep an eye on that. This weekend the Bengals look to win against the woeful Bills. I think this one will be a minor shootout, and you know TO is going to war against yet another team he feels wronged him.
Cleveland - The Browns under Colt McCoy are for real. I still think the lack of a real WR1 is what holds the Browns back. They win off balls, heart, and solid football play, and they all but had the Jets tied up. After a very tough stretch, the Browns finally get a softie in Jacksonville. If the Browns win this thing going away it will not shock me. I think this is a weekend where you can consider McCoy for a couple TDs.
AFC South -
Houston - A freak play for sure, but that Hail Mary defines the Texans. Owen Daniels remains on the shelf, and the secondary still doesnt show up on game day. There was a Kevin Walter sighting, who had a big game after not doing jack for several weeks. I think we are starting to see the grind of the season hit Arion Foster, so keep an eye on his overall production as you head for the playoffs, and if Derrick Ward is availble, stash him if you can. Houston faces the Jets this week, so I would be leery of starting anyone outside Foster and Andre Johnson. Very leery.
Titans - Kerry Collins wants to start, but is out at least two weeks. Vince Young is happy just being a backup, but will have to start now. Poor guy. The Titans got whipped by a team who used a whopping SIX guys under center. This week Tenny faces reeling Washington, a team that just got **** slapped by Mike Vick. Randy Moss only has one catch thus far, so to say this is a tenuous fantasy situation is putting it mildly. CJ2K is a safe start. Id really avoid the rest.
Indianapolis -Manning went without a TD for the first time I can remember, but the Colts, with 2 WRs and a guy who wasnt even listed on MFL still found a way to win. Watch the status of Tamme, who could barely walk after the game. If he cant go, I honestly have no idea who to tell you to pick up. Addai and Hart probably wont play, so keep Brown and Jarvarris James in mind. James has 3 TDs in the last two games.
Jacksonville - The Jags and Gerrard came through. Great offensive output in the Jags most complete offensive game of the season. Little luck with that Hail Mary never hurts. I see some of you starting to use Marcedes Lewis, but dont blame me when he disappears. The Jags face suddenly tough Cleveland this weekend, and I expect a competitive game with both teams scoring in the low 20s. Anyone know where Deji Karim went? Anybody?
AFC West
Kansas City - Id say Cassel answered the bell, throwing for 469 yds. Im also not shocked the Chiefs fell behind 35-0. The Chiefs are obviously lying about whats wrong with McCluster. 3 games Questionable, 3 games inactive. Not much the Chiefs can do but move on. KC plays Arizona this weekend. Can you say shootout? Bowe, Cassel, Charles, Jones, Moeaki. Start em all if you own them.
San Diego - Comes off the bye week and may get Malcom Floyd back. If he goes and hes on waivers get him, he will be the WR1 against a bad Broncos defense Monday Night. Remember Vincent Jackson returns next week. Keep an eye on the status of Antonio Gates, as Randy McMichael scored 2 TDs in his place last game. Also dont forget Seti Ajirotutu, who had over 100 and 2 TDs against the Texans, another bad pass defense in Week 9.
Denver - Trashed Kansas City. If you had Orton, Lloyd, Moreno, or Gaffney in last week you were very happy. This week Id say Orton and Lloyd are safe bets. Moreno is always a step away from injury, and against a much better defense I cant recommend starting him.
Oakland - Comes off the bye week over .500 for the first time in years. Jacoby Ford may be the Robin to the returning Murphys robin we've all been waiting for. Keep an eye on the injury status of Zach Miller. Then weep because Oakland returns against the Steelers. Not sure who will start at QB. Cable wants Gradkowski. Davis wants Campbell. Davis will win, but whether Oakland does is another story. Start DMac, as I honestly feel he will have a decent game against Pittsburgh.
NFC East -
Dallas -All I can say is wow. At least for the week, the Dallas Cowboys of years gone by showed up and kicked the hell out of the New York Giants. Jason Garrett seems to be well on his way to restoring balls to this football team. Dez Bryant is going to be scary next year, and by design or not, I was glad to see Felix Jones start over Marion Barber. Solid game by the Boys, and this week a date with Kitna's old Lions await. Start Jones, Austin, Kitna, and Bryant with confidence. Until I see Witten show back up, Im not sold enough to use him if you have a better option.
Washington - Vick shall run wild as punishment for his missing games.
Good God did he. This is just a bad fantasy situation. McNabb got an extension but really didnt. You now officially have no idea who will get the majority of RB snaps. Welcome to Ratball. This week the Skins play the Titans, who have many issues under center themselves. If I knew who was going to play, Id tell you, but I dont. Avoid your Skins this week.
Philadelphia - "with all the trash and uncertainty floating around that locker room, I think Philly is primed to blow out the Skins on Monday Night. I have a feeling Philly is going to take a turnover or two to the house" Greatest Fantasy performance of the modern era. I dont really need to say much about this. Impressive. Eagles vs Giants this weekend. Be prepared to be amazed again.
New York Giants - Got blasted by the Cowboys. Now they dont get a break catching history making Michael Vick and an Eagles team hitting on all cylinders. I feel confident in starting Manning and Nicks this weekend. This is a game with playoff implications, and I think youll see both teams bring their A game.
NFC North
Chicago - How the hell this team keeps winning is beyond me. The Bears all but took the Vikings behind the barn and shot them. If anyone else knows how the Bears are winning, inform me, because I honestly cant figure it out. Chicago vs Miami on Thursday Night ball this weekend. I think this is one the Dolphins could walk away with. Keep an eye on the status of Johnny Knox on the short week.
Green Bay - Coming off the bye, the Pack faces the Vikes and Brett Favre. Make no mistake Outlaws, Green Bay is going to bring the thunder against Minnesota. The Pack has a chance to not only finish off the Vikes, but finish off Favre. Green Bay has overcome the injuries and really looks to be rounding into form at the right time. Not sure who goes at TE this week, but keep an eye on it as practice reports come out this week.
Minnesota - Honestly, Favres last dance is all but over. When you get hurt putting on a shirt, its really time to stop. The Vikes last hope comes this weekend against what I think will be a focused Packers squad. I heard Rice will play, same as last week. Dont buy it. Deep down, Ziggy knows he will go into next year with a new coach and a new QB, and he isnt going to risk a prime WR on a lost season. Harvin and Peterson are starts because they are going to go hard, but stay away from the rest.
Detroit - Broke their own NFL record for the longest road losing streak in history in a bad loss to winless Buffalo. Fred Jackson tore up the Lions, much like I think Felix Jones will tear them up this weekend. I think the Lions should have went with Drew Staton, but Shaun Hill will be under center again this weekend. Jahvid Best and Brandon Pettigrew should have decent games because they can run away from the Boys slow backers. Megatron and Burleson will get some, but overall dont expect a big fantasy game out of them. The losing streak shall continue.
NFC South
Tampa Bay - Beat up the NFLs retards in a solid win over Carolina. Now that Ive learned about the Bucs, I really like where they are headed as a team. This week, Tampa Bay gets a real test from the SF 49ers. Freeman and Williams are go to go, but dont expect much from the Bucs backfield.
New Orleans - The Saints come off the bye and begin their post season drive. Start Brees and crew with confidence against the Seahawks this weekend. Not sure of the status of Bush and Thomas yet, but I wouldnt hold your breath. The Saints should win by a comfortable margin regardless of who is in the backfield. More to say next week after the game.
Atlanta - The Falcons almost let it slip away, but got the damn job done against the Ravens. Matt Ryan played lights out, Roddy White looks like the best WR in the league, and the defense did a fine job on Ray Rice for a good portion of the game. Impressive. Atlanta gets another test this weekend as St Louis comes to town. The Rams are certainly not the Ravens, but when St Louis puts it all together they are hard to beat. I forsee a Snelling TD this week, and I think the Falcons are going to get this done on the ground..with 10 catches by Roddy.
Carolina - Listen, this is all you need to know. They play the Ravens. They suck. Clausen might not go but it dont matter anyway unless your a Pike fan. The Panthers suck.
NFC West
San Francisco - Finally found a QB. Troy Smith threw for over 300 yards, is 2-0 as a starter, and he is elevating the play of those around him. The Alex Smith days are over. SF goes this week against the resurgent young Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I expect big days from Gore, Smith, and Crabtree, and if you honestly want to see a good football game this weekend, find a way to tune this one in.
Seattle - There was a Justin Forsett sighting this weekend. Like the Men In Black, he will thought of as Deja Vu and dimissed just as quickly. The Saints coming off a bye should walk all over this football team. Keep an eye on Deon Butler. As long as Tate is out his chances of production rise.
Arizona - Ran for 41 yards. In PPR leagues Hightower had like a 13 point game, but I bet none of you started him. Doucet, Breston, and Fitz had decent fantasy games, but on the field this team flippin sucks. The defense gave up just under 500 yards. This week Arizona goes to Kansas City. They will give up 500 yards again. There will be no running game. The WRs will be decent starts, and the Cards will lose another one.
St Louis - Close but no cigar. In a year, the Rams will win this kind of game, but not quite yet. Fantasy wise the Rams head to Atlanta this weekend. Danny Amendiola and SJax will be worth starting. Sam Bradford will probably do better than you think. Rookie of the Year? Bradford just might be.
Those are my random thoughts for now. Feel free to throw in yours
