Sarges Random Late Night Thoughts Interception Edition

Sgt John

Sith Lord of T&A
Rest assured readers, though I think there may have been an NFL record set this weekend for interceptions thrown, Sarge will give you a turnover free read. On to business.................

The AFC East -
Miami - Im not really sure how the refs worked this deal. I saw Cheeseburger lose the ball. I saw Dolphins fall on it. Then I saw Dolphins getting ripped off. However, lets not forget had the Fins managed to turn one of Dan Carpenters 5 FGs into a TD this doesnt happen. Chad Henne has to turn the corner, but I dont think it will be this year.

Buffalo -The Bills offense played a hell of a game against the Ravens. Many of you are now trading for Ryan Fitzpatrick, though I hope youre not giving up dynasty picks for the guy, as he didnt beat out Tenative Trent Edwards in camp. There was even a big time Lee Evans sighting, a good thing for a guy I think would be a Top 10 WR in many other situations. Still, the defense couldnt answer the bell and Fluffalo remains winless. This week, the Bills head to Kansas City. Do not be surprised at all if both teams break the 40 point barrier in this one.

NY Jets - Face Green Bay after their bye this week. The difference in this game will be the fact NY has two top flight RBs and Green Bay has..well, not one to be honest. I expect the Jets to run the ball 35 times on Green Bay, picking up a good 200 yards in the process. I just dont think the Pack has what it takes to win this game in the balls department. The Jets will keep Aaron Rodgers off the field most of the day.

New England - Played like shit this weekend, yet still won thanks to a plethora of Charger gifts. Im interested to see exactly how far the Pats ride the law firm of Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis. If you ask me, (and since your reading you are) I think the Pats need to turn to Danny Woodhead. He fits the spread offense, and that guy can block pretty well for a little fella. I also understand he grasps the concept of holding on to the football. Not a bad thing in a RB.

AFC North -
Pittsburgh - Should NOT have beat Miami this weekend, but still, the defense gets it done. The question now is going to be how the Stillaz deal with the loss of DE Aaron Smith. This is going to be a totally different defense without him, as it was last time he was gone. We will find out this week starting with the Steelers game against the reeling World Champion Saints just what they have in the tank. I have a feeling the Steelers will win this one going away, largely because they will make the Saints fully one dimensional.

Baltimore - Ray Lewis and Ed Reed showed up to play. I think the rest of the Ravens forgot to get off the bus Sunday. You may thank Joe Flacco and Willis McGahee for saving the Ravens on this day. Oh..and just curious..who else got a fat 12 point start out of Willis this past week? The Ravens are plodding along in contention for a playoff spot, but theyve GOT to get the kinks ironed out before the stretch run.

Cincinnati - What a bunch of dorks. This team has 13 win talent and 8 win effort. Still, even at 2-4 they are just a couple games out of a wildcard spot in a wild season. However, its going to take wins against Miami, Pittsburgh, and Indy in consecutive weeks. Aint happenin. I really dont understand why the Bengals cant figure it out.

Cleveland - Took down the World Champion New Orleans Saints. Forced several turnovers, scored off them, and...drum roll...got just exactly enough non turnover infested QB play out of Colt McCoy. Great way to head into the bye week and emerge with a 3 headed QB controversy...and a healthy Peyton Hills, which is good for us all. I have a suspicion you will see a high Cleveland pick in 2011 go on a solid WR1.

AFC South -
Houston - Was off this week, busy getting Brian Cushing settled into the MLB spot. We will see the Texans on Monday Night AT Indianapolis in a game where they could take a stranglehold on the AFC South (and own all the tie breakers over the Colts.) Now, the question is will they actually be able to do it. With Joseph Addai possibly out, and no Dallas Clark to deal with, Houston has a chance.

Titans - Anyone needing to see how to get out of the doghouse call Kenny Britt. 225 yards and 3 scores later, the Titans had pretty much bludgeoned the Eagles. Personally I think Id run with Collins for one more week since the Chargers will give the Titans plenty of gifts to turn into points, and the Chargers will be without Malcom Floyd and Legedu Naanee again. Anyone seen CJ2K lately?

Indianapolis - Wow. No Dallas Clark, and maybe no Joseph Addai. The Colts are still a solid team, and they will be playing in the post season, but just how do you overcome the loss of your best pass catcher? This is going to be a very interesting game versus the Texans.

Jacksonville - Another day, another loss. Pretty shameful all around. Hearing even MJD is finally fed up with the offense. Good time for a bye week Id assume. Would anyone not do Bristol Palin? Im just tying in filler here now. Who really uses this trampoline smiley anyway? Go Wildcats Go!

AFC West
Kansas City - 2010 AFC West Champions. Dont laugh Mister..it could very well happen. The Chiefs are 4-2, they have a 1.5 game lead over the rest of the division, even with the rest not having had their bye yet. So yeah, basically a 2.5 game lead. The Chiefs have a potent offense, a defense that will get the job done, and a nice collection of playmakers. If you start nothing but Bills and Chiefs this week you should score in the 150's.

San Diego - Is going with a TE at 1/2 speed, minus WRs 1-3, and with their brains normally set to 50%. This team is a flippin mess. I dont think they will leave the field Sunday with a win. Definately the AFC version of the Cowboys. Im hearing Naanee and Floyd will again be out this week, leaving your fantasy lives in the hands of Buster Davis and that fool that sat the ball down and walked off after an uncontested catch.

Denver - Got their asses kicked. No shame fellas. You hop up, dust yourself off, and leave the country. Wonder if the Queen would start Orton this week to cover a bye? Id also like to know what Knowshown Moreno was thinking by celebrating his scores while his team was down 30-40 points. Idiot.

Oakland - "Probably a fantasy situation to avoid this weekend." Im sorry. I will personally see that Miller mails each of you who listened to me a bottle of your favorite vice. D-M-C went O-F-F. There is a good shot the Raiders will beat Seattle at home this weekend and be a 4-4 team right on the edge of contention in the AFC West.

NFC East -
Dallas - The season is officially over. Just time to watch Phillips squirm and Marion Barber pick up game checks at the rate of 6 yards a week.
A season of so much promise with what I still think is the most talented team in the NFL dies under the weight of snapped collarbones and lack of discipline. I think the Chin could have this a 13 win team next year.

Washington - Probably shouldnt have beaten the Bears. Throwing that aside, the Skins are 1 game out of first with the Giants idle this week and Washington facing the Lions. Thats right, Washington could basically move into a tie this week for the lead in the division. Two good WRs, a good TE, a good RB, a decent defense, and a great QB. Thats going to win this division. Funny thing is Philly and the Giants have the same things. Stay tuned.....

Philadelphia - I question the heart of this football team. Cortland Finnegan scored that last play of the game TD because the Eagles just gave up. Have some damn pride guys. In other news, expect to see Vick back under center after the bye, and the Iggles getting a 2nd round pick for Vick OR Kolb in the upcoming draft.

New York Giants - Boy did they break it off in Dallas' ass. That game was not as close as the score indicated. Thank Mr. Boley for giving Jerry Jones the excuse he needs to sleep at night. Bye week time for the Giants, which means for a week youll have to find your fantasy fix without Hakeem Nicks.

NFC North
Chicago -Well, the Bears havent really showed up to play in a few weeks, but they are still leading the NFC North. The Bears need to use the bye to work out the offensive kinks and get on with it. They still have a pretty solid chance to win this divison with Green Bay floundering and the Vikings...well, those guys aint too good.

Green Bay - Won a game off the good graces of Brett Favre. The Pack was able to keep pace with the Bears, but this week face the Jets, who unlike the Vikings will not give the game away. Green Bay still needs a running game, but with the trade deadline gone, you aint gonna see one. Injuries have really hurt the Pack this year, and I think they lost two more defenders this week.

Minnesota - Its pretty much over. Favre's body has fallen apart. The arm is trash and the feet wont set anymore. I am pretty confident Favre will still go this week, and, I think New England is going to take him behind the barn and pull the trigger. New England will come after Favre HARD, and I just dont see his old body surviving a couple good whacks. But have no fear, Tarvaris Jackson will be right there to keep throwing the interceptions opposing D's hunger for.

Detroit - Im still calling the Lions upset this week. I think Jahvid Best will put on a show for us all. The Lions are only 2.5 games out of 1st, and we all know someone HAS to seize control of this division. Im not saying the Lions are going to go off and win the division, but they can damn sure further muddy the waters. There is a good shot an 8-8 team is going to make the playoffs in the NFC.

NFC South
Tampa Bay - Well, they won. Looks like LeGarrette Blount took a shot at trying to win the RB1 spot in Tampa. Easy game vs Arizona this weekend. Ok..Ill take some guidance here. I dont know what the hell to think of the Bucs.

New Orleans - "I dont have games like that" - Drew Brees "Well, you damn sure did today" - Sgt John. This is looking more and more like the Saints will enter the playoffs as a wildcard. Word is Sean Taylor is getting pissy about his PT Cruiser still being in the shop. Not good.......

Atlanta - Roddy White should have been the #1 WR off the fantasy board this season. Man has he been playing his ass off week in and week out. There has been no one at WR2, and he still crushes it. Falcons on the bye this week, leading the NFC South with a 5-2 record. Mike Turner running with power. Jason Snelling ready to crush souls at a moments notice. The Falcons have the tools for a deep run in a mediocre NFC.

Carolina - Beat San Francisco. Gettis will be the hot WR off the waiver wire this week. Steve Smith volunteered to do returns to help the team (This guy is the most self centered asshole in the league, but I havent figured out what he gets out of this yet). Probably will lose to St Louis this weekend. Not much else to say.

NFC West
San Francisco - Has been re-named Shame Francisco for this atrocious season. The 9ers are already in London, because Singletary thinks they need to unwind and get away from football. Hey, whatever soothes the 1-6 record there. David Carr may get the start in Wembley Stadium this weekend. I have $1 that says if he does start Singletary will leave him in London after he throws Denver to victory.

Seattle - Looked pretty damn good in a 22-10 win over the Cardinals. Lynch and Forsett ground up some tough yards for the second week, as the Hawks now lead the NFC West. Im not saying Seattle is a good team, but I think as is they have to be the odds on favorites to win the West.
Im not sure why Hass isnt throwing to Butler more often, but I hope they figure it out.

Arizona - As long as the carousel continues at QB the Cards arent going to have much of a chance. I know hes a kid, but Id stick with Max Hall the rest of the year and see where it takes you. What Arizona now needs more than ever is a decent TE. Ill wait to see who actually starts against the Bucs this weekend, and I hope you dont have to depend on this situation to produce you a QB this week.

St Louis - Should have beat the Bucs, but these are the pains you go through when your such a young team. I think SJax has to feel good about where the frachise is headed. Last weeks waiver wire darling Danario Alexander disappeared, but if you started Danny Amendiola you were very happy. Anyone else wonder where the Rams would be today with Donnie Avery?

Those are my random thoughts for now. Feel free to throw in yours
