Sarge's Pick the Player - Quarterback

Sgt John

Sith Lord of T&A
Thinking this might be something fun for us to pass some time in the next couple weeks. Its pretty simple.

Ill lay out the kind of offense or defense, and give you a short list of players. You select who you think would fit best in that scheme (or who you would take the chance on) and why.

Today we start with Quarterback. You are the head coach of a youthful team of mid range talent. Your division is stacked with two powerful defensive teams, your middle of the road squad, and a squad that cant ever get its stuff together.

Your one real weapon on the offensive side of the ball is an uber talented TE. The rest of your skill guys and line spots are average at best. Your team is currently running a west coast offense.

Here are your available QBs:

Kevin Kolb
Matt Flynn
Caleb Hanie
Alex Smith

Have fun guys/gals

If its me, Im going to take Matt Flynn. I think Kolb and Hanie would work more in a spread system, and Alex Smith sucks (and wont take the battering behind my average offensive line)

Matt Flynn looks to have the necessary tools, and Ive got a great TE as his security blanket.

I think he would work out pretty well for that type of team. It at least gives you someone to build around.

It would be hard to pick Hanie. Unless your a Bears fan and live in an area to see the games, I really dont know much about the guy except for the playoff game he appeared in. Im a Kolb fan or at least enough of one that would like to see him get a chance to start somewhere. NOTE, i'd take Kolb over Palmer here in Jax any day. And as said earlier Smith just sucks. So i guess i will have to follow the norm, no pun intended, and take Flynn.

I would have to say its between Kolb and Flynn. I might lean Flynn as he seems a bit more elusive, and sounds like O-line isn't up to snuff. Kolb loves him some TE though. Still, I don't know you would go wrong on either. Flynn showed alot to me filling in for an injured Rodgers. Kid has spunk. I will say flynn also.
