Sapp Hints That CJ Maybe Holding Out Longer This Year.

After speaking recently with Titans RB Chris Johnson, NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp believes the star running back is serious about holding out beyond training camp. "There's going to have to be some talking before Chris goes back to Tennessee," Sapp said. CJ has skipped Voluntary camps before but might be more steadfast about holding out to get a new contract this year. The Titans have gotten Chris Johnsons services as a RB at a bargain rate, so far. Obviously, the Titans would like to see CJ remain the 1/2 Million Dollar man again for another year.

CJ2K is slated to earn less ($550,000) this year than third-string journeyman Alvin Pearman ($630,000).

This blows my mind. Usually I say just get your ass on the field and play. But got CJ, I would hold out as well. Titans need to pony up and pay the man. $550k for a 2k rusher, consider yourself getting a bargain last year and pay him for the impact he has made.

I have always been a banger on if you signed a contract play it.

However, things have changed. First Rbs careers are very short. Especially smaller backs. CJ won't last more than 5 years. So to have already played as many as he has at that low a salary is enough. The guy WAS your team last year Tenn. Time to pay the man what he deserves, so he can get on with it.

That being said.....Hello Mr. Ringer!!! :koolaid: .......that was for you Slabaugh ;)

If he gets the big bucks what's the chances that he'll come back to the pack in production? It happens all too often after a player gets his big money.

He needs to get paid. But I hate to see him hold out thru training camp. The injury bug stays close for players holding out thru training camp. As far as stopping massive production after getting paid, he doesn't come across as one of those players.

Agreed, he needs to be paid what he's worth. Tenn season would have been alot worse last year if it wasn't for him. Definitly needs to be in the top 10 paid running backs in the league, maybe even top 5.

It's the opposite of the Jamarcus Russell effect. Sometimes you pay them and the team gets screwed. Sometimes the player turns out to be something special and the Player gets screwed.

I rarely support holdouts by players but in this case I support CJ, assuming he isn't asking for the moon and the stars. He is seriously underpaid and plays the position with the shortest shelf life.
