Draft Projection - Top 5 Pick
NFL Impact: Sam Bradford has the biggest upside of any QB in the 2010 NFL draft. After winning the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt sophomore in 2008, and setting all kinds of college football records in the process, Bradford decided to forgo the NFL draft for another year in college, in which he may have been the #1 overall pick, instead of Stafford. Bradford has ideal size, vision and intelligence to be a QB in the NFL. His footwork is excellent in the pocket, and so is his toughness. Sam has no fear of taking hits and will stand his ground when a pass rush is imminent. One of the most accurate QBs in the country for the last couple of years, with decent arm strength and the ability to lead his receivers consistently up to 25 yards down field. Questions arise, however, when you look at Bradford's durability, and the spread offense he played in college. He's not afraid to take a hit, but can he survive one? In the opening game of the 2009 college football season, Bradford separated his AC joint in his throwing arm, sidelining him for virtually the rest of the season. With perhaps a bit more weight on him, Bradford can endure the physical hits at the next level. But can a team trust his arm after he went through surgery to repair the joint? And was his success simply a product of a the offense he ran at Oklahoma? What are your thoughts on Sam Bradford? Here is a video showing the pros and cons of this prospect:
I like this video because it shows Bradford taking a lot of hits before making accurate throws, however as you can see, many of the times the receivers are wide open because of the offense they run:
