Saints WR Lance Moore Likely Won't Be Ready For The Start Of Camp

Saints head coach Sean Payton does not expect Moore (shoulder) to be 100 percent by the time training camp opens, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. "The key is just to make sure that he's healthy enough that he doesn't re-injure...the shoulder," Payton said. "We'll probably put him on a limited basis in regards to how much right from the get go, but I think he'll be pretty close." Moore will have a hard time replicating his numbers from last year due to the depth of receiving options in New Orleans and missing the entire offseason and, potentially, a big chunk of training camp certainly won't help.

I have seen a lot of Moore upside speculation here on the forums.

I liked having his ADP on rise because it increased the chances of another player I like more dropping a little farther. This may prove enough to reverse that trend.

The analysis that came with that news bit doesn't seem to be shared by the coach.

Saints coach Sean Payton is confident that Lance Moore won't be adversely affected by his shoulder surgery early in the season. It doesn't sound like missing camp time will affect his playing staus. Unless he fails to perorm well when ready.

Saints | Payton and Brees confident in Lance Moore Fri Jun 19, 12:10 PM
Mike Triplett, from the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports Moore has been able to participate in walk-through sessions and take "mental reps" throughout the offseason program. Both Payton and quarterback Drew Brees are confident that Moore will be able to pick up where he left off last season, even though he'll be limited at the start of camp.
Our view: Payton said. "He is someone who's very intelligent and very smart. You don't like it when players are missing reps, but in his case I think he's got a pretty good grasp of what we're doing. And I think he's going to be close to being ready when we start." Coach also commented how they would probably start him on a limited basis when training camp starts, but he fully expects Moore to be 100% by the start of the regular season.

Im going to assume they are not worried about Moore's ability to produce for them. Whether that faith is misplaced only time will tell.
