In a mild surprise, the Saints released veteran kicker John Carney on Tuesday. Carney was signed two weeks ago to fill in for Garrett Hartley, who had missed several kicks. Carney made five of six field goals but the team apparently wants to head back in Hartley's direction beginning this week against the Buccaneers.
