rotoworld,Saints beat writer Jeff Duncan confirms that unsigned restricted free agent LT Jammal Brown "isn't going anywhere," despite his reported displeasure in New Orleans.

Yahoo! reported Monday that Brown wants to be released, but the Saints aren't going to give up a talented left tackle for nothing. The team holds all the cards, with Jermon Bushrod plenty capable of starting if Brown holds out.

rotoworld,
The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan hears there "might be some legs" to a potential trade of unsigned restricted free agent LT Jammal Brown to the Redskins.

Brown has been on the trading block for over two months, and the Redskins were reported to be interested in the week leading up to the draft. The Saints don't want to commit long-term to a player who missed all of last season with injuries, and Brown wants out of New Orleans. Washington is a good fit, with Artis Hicks potentially moving inside to address the hole at right guard.

Pending a physical, the Saints will trade Brown to the Redskins for a conditional draft pick, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports. A hip injury cost Brown the entire 2009 season, but he'll be a nice addition to Washington's line if he's fully healthy. With Brown in the fold, the Redskins may use rookie Trent Williams at right guard with Brown manning the left side.

rotoworld,
The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports the Saints have agreed to trade restricted free agent LT Jammal Brown to the Redskins. According to FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer, the Saints will receive a conditional draft pick.

Albert Haynesworth is not involved. A Pro Bowler as recently as 2008, Brown will immediately upgrade a shaky Redskins offensive line as long as he checks out physically after missing last season due to hip and groin surgiers. The plan is to stick with rookie Trent Williams on the blindside with Brown entering at right tackle, but that could change in training camp. Artis Hicks will move inside to right guard, upgrading a second position up front. The trade is great news for Donovan McNabb's fantasy value.

rotoworld,
According to Profootballtalk.com, unsigned restricted free agent LT Jammal Brown will not require a contract extension as a precondition of Saturday's trade to the Redskins.

Brown will sign his RFA tender of $3.619 million, and extension talks may begin down the line. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints' compensation hinges on the Donovan McNabb trade. If McNabb makes the Pro Bowl, or the Redskins win nine games or make the playoffs, the Eagles receive a third-round pick and the Saints get a fourth. If none of those happen, the Eagles will get the fourth-round pick and the Saints get the third-rounder.

Crud. Washington making very solid moves. This makes the NFC east even tougher.

Jermon Bushrod is assured of entering the season as the Saints' starting left tackle following Saturday's trade of Jammal Brown.

more on the deal:

Updating a previous report, the Washington Redskins part of the deal in the OT Jammal Brown trade with the New Orleans Saints will depend on how Redskins QB Donovan McNabb performs next season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. If McNabb goes to the Pro Bowl or the Redskins reach the playoffs or win nine games, the Redskins would send their 2011 third-round draft choice to the Philadelphia Eagles and the Saints would receive the Redskins' fourth-round draft choice. If those goals are not reached, the Saints would receive the third-round pick and the Eagles would receive the fourth-round pick. If the Saints receive the fourth-round pick, they would send the Redskins a sixth- or seventh-round draft choice as part of a deal. If the Saints received the third-round pick, they would send the Redskins a fifth-round draft choice. The Saints will also receive Washington's sixth-round draft choice in 2012 if Brown plays 90 percent of the snaps or is voted to the Pro Bowl.

The Saints will receive 2 first rounders if the American winter solstice becomes a summer solstice but you won't have to worry about it as the Earth will have flipped ass over teakettle and be upside down.
