Save for a collision with a defender on the last day of OTAs when going for a pass, Chargers rookie RB Ryan Mathews has no complaints about his offseason with his new team. Mathews showed why he was a first-round draft pick during OTAs and minicamp, flashing speed to go with his size. He said he's learned a great deal during the practices but is focused on working hard and working out with his trainer leading up to training camp. "Everybody's the best of the best," Mathews said of the talent level in the NFL. "They get drafted and play in the league for a reason. Guys are faster and stronger. Everyone's a top performer. ... There's still a lot to work on. It's a beginning."
Analysis: The Chargers and football pundits have given Mathews rave reviews all offseason long, so it will be an exciting training camp for the Chargers as they check out their running back of the future. Fantasy owners are equally excited about Mathews and are making him the first rookie rusher taken in every draft this summer. Heck, he might be among the Top 12 running backs taken overall in Fantasy play when it's all said and done! We like him as a quality No. 2 Fantasy RB, but there's obvious potential for him to wind up performing like a No. 1 option. Expect him to be drafted between 15th overall and 25th overall in all leagues this summer.
