Rooney Rule: Useless?

I think so. People are going to hire who they want to hire anyway, and I dont see the reason to force guys with no shot at a job to have to go through the endless cycle of meaningless interviews.

How many "Rooneyviews" did guys like Leslie Frazier and Ron Rivera have to endure?

I'm sure it doesn't bother them since they're now head coaches.

Also the Rooney Rule gets some unknown (or little known) names known. They also get to experience the interviewing process, even if they know they won't get the job. I'm guessing Rivera shored up his shortcomings from his last go around and here it's paid off.

I don't like it at all. Seems like alot of waste in time and money. And really hate to say it but it seems racist to me to enforce this rule. To me the rule says who cares who you want to hire, before you do you have t interview minoritys first. Personally i would take it as an insult to be brought in to interview for a position knowing i have no chance. And its only being done because they have to and dont want to be fined. Whatever happened to the best man gets the job? Thats the way it is out here in society. Imagine if that stupid rule was enforced on our jobs. NAACP would be all over it.

I agree with Cerberus. I don't like it at all and don't see that it has helped at all. It's a slap in the face to bring someone in for an interview that you know there is no chance in hell you will hire to simply comply with a rule that states you have to interview a minority applicant.

I think it's a stupid rule. You are going to hire who you want to hire. It is a waste of time for the guys getting the interview jsut for the rule.

Now, what if a team interviews an African American candidate only. They want him for the job and no one else, so he is the only interview. Does that team now have to interview a Hispanic coach, or White coach to satisfy the rule?

No it doesnt go both ways. If St Rooney didnt have his name on it alot more NFL people would be saying how stupid it was.
