Dolphins | Marshall Faulk believes that Ronnie Brown trade rumors were a smokescreen Sun May 31, 05:04 PM
Brian Biggane from the Palm Beach Post reports that he spoke with NFL Network analyst Marshall Faulk Friday for a story on Ronnie Brown that will come out in the next few days and he was all but laughing out loud at what he considers the Dolphins' smokescreen that they have been listening to offers for their Pro Bowl running back.
Our view: Faulk said Brown should be smart enough that he knows if he just goes ahead and plays out the year he'll be rewarded with a nice deal - if not by the Dolphins then by somebody else. "Look at J.J. Arrington. He got $10 million and he's not at the level Ronnie Brown is. If he has to move, move. Don't be fooled by the smokescreen."

This was news to me. i guess I missed the smokescreen.

It's the same game the Fins play with every potential free agent. Of course, Brown will be an RFA after this year, not a UFA. That all but ensures Brown will take a hometown discount to stay with the team, just like Yeremiah Bell, Channing Crowder, Vernon Carey, and even (to an extent) Jason Taylor did.
