More proof? Look how easily this phrase and the definition of the borg fit:

The New England Patriots were a pseudo-race of cybernetic beings, or cyborgs, from the Foxboro Quadrant. No truly single individual existed within the Patriots Collective(with the possible sole exception of the Bill Belichick), as they were linked into a hive mind. Their ultimate goal was perfection through the forcible defeat of professional football teams. As a result, they were among the most powerful and feared teams in the NFL.
Yep.....thats the Patriots alright. Even look at the fact Borg Drones normally couldnt survive outside the collective. Josh McDaniel and others are proof that stuff happens to former Patriot assistances too!
