In a dynasty legue which receiver would I be better off having? Wayne still has the better QB that is going to pass and Smith is explosive at times but in a run oriented system. Both are about the same age. What is the long and short term values? Advice?

VERY close IMO, but I will lean towards SS, but I don't think you could go wrong either way. In fact, if you want safe, Wayne could be it. SS IMO has a little higher ceiling.

I have been having trouble with these two in many of these "Close Call" like polls. I choose one then take the other in a mock. I argue one thing then get shown justifications for the other view that sways me. I felt that Wayne was more consistent, then was shown that actually Smith was the more consistent of the two. I think we base that consistency thing on the teams QB. For instance, Manning is more consistent than Jake. I have changed for the 3rd time on these two, and since this is in the text of dynasty, I like Smith.

Last 3 years:

Smith played 43 games, gained 3600 yards and 22 tds. He was the #8, #16, and #5 receiver. He has always played at least 14 games. last year shortened, not by injury but suspension. Delhomme injured in 2nd year coming off of Tommy John's last year.

Wayne played all 48 games, gained 3,900 yards and 25 Td's. He was the #3, #4, and #14 receiver. He hasn't missed a game do to injury. He has had a argueably the best QB situation in the league and Harrison on the otherside until basically last year.

Per game, Smith stacks up well, isn't really an injury concern, and has only missed 1 game due to injury the past 2 years.

It's close. Wayne trended down last year some, and Manning was coming off a knee surgey. Both receivers have QB's a year removed from surgery. Smtih gets Mush back, and a great running game. Wayne accepts Gonzalez on the otherside, and has to find a running game.

It's close.

Car - run to open up pass
Ind - pass to open up run

Car system puts a lot less demands on the QB and less defenders against the recievers. I'll take Smith

Will R.Wayne be able to be the #1 guy for Manning ?? Big shoes to fill here.

Voted for S.Smith as he is already a proven #1 WR year in, year out.

Hard choice. Both are good guys and play the game well. Both are dependable and nobody could go wrong with either one. I take SS just because i have seen him play more.

Id take Reggie Wayne. Steve Smith is a good WR but ive never liked him in fantasy football as much as other WRs. Wayne also has the better QB throwing to him.

Give me catch everything Reggie with Peyton Manning throwing me the ball, Over Steve Smith and there run first offense and Delhomme as my QB. However i would easily draft either one if not both in FF. You cannot go wrong with either or, I just like a pass happy offense with Manning throwing it to my FF WR.

Steve Smith without a doubt. Plays much bigger than his size. Reggie does catch a higher percentage of passes thrown his way but Smith does more with them. Here's a new stat for you - CAYACs - Career average yards after the catch:

Smith - 6.3
Wayne - 3.8

That's 2.5 more yards on every catch. Besides, Smith averaged over 100 ypg last year, I doubt he'll do it again but he'll still do better than Reggie.
