Rebuild or Compete?

gruntbusters

hehehe...heheheh..hehe...
Okay Outlaws. I finished this year with my most disappointing record so far in my 10 team dynasty league. I'm averaging about 90 points/week. Need to be around 120. We have 30 man rosters(increasing to 35 next year) and the league is in it's 8th season. I am two years removed from my 1st championship and clearly am not getting it done with the guys I have.

If you were me and this was your roster, which guys would you build around, which would you throw on the trade block and which would you just flat out dump for options in next years rookie draft or waiver wire prospects?

We play 1 QB, 1RB, 2WR, 3OP, 1TE, 3DP, 1K. Standard scoring (non-ppr).

I'm on the bench on selling out for a total overhaul or just adding a few key pieces. The way I see it, I'm keeping Romo, Schaub, Blount, Greene, Nicks and Marshall for sure. But maybe I need to use them as trade bait for another piece that I'm not seeing, hence my email here. Take a moment to look it over if you have a few....muchas grassyass

You really dont have a bad roster at all, and you arent that far off. Your RB core probably wildly underperformed this year, and thats where your missing the points.

Thanks Sarge. You know it's just really hard to stay excited when you have week after week of under performance. Part of my reason for posting this was to hear unbiased opinions about this team. Really appreciate you taking the time to burn through those guys like that. Very cool perspective. Not far off from what I was thinking.

No problem at all. Thats what we are here for.

In reply to Norm, yeah you do need to upgrade the RBs slightly, but youve got a lot of young talented guys. You have enough in talent marked Dump/Trade to made a big deal for a stud back and not hurt yourself in the long run.

Keep Schaub and try to deal the Dallas QB's and either draft or trade for a young QB to groom as your #2.

Greene/Blount are your RB's to build on. I like Blount a lot, especially in a non ppr league. Greene still has some promise, but you can do better as well especially in a 10 team league. This is a big weakness overall.

I like this group....I did not bold Marshall, not that I think he's garbage, but b/c I think you can get some value from him and you are deep here. Holmes could be considered to move as well, but I'd likely keep him.

Trade Tony G if you can, don't need him with the other 2.

If this was a 12 team league I'd feel better, but in a 10 teamer I think it lacks pop. RB's need overhauled. I would be rebuilding, if it was me.

Yeah, I've thought I needed a RB overhaul badly. Wasn't sure if I had enough elite WR talent to compete either, but thought I was set once I attained Marshall this year. I essentially gave up Colt McCoy and Hardesty for him. Then, he sucked. All year. If I moved him now, it would be a huge sell low value on him in our league.

Do you think a 3rd round rookie pick is enough value for Gonzo? I was offered that earlier this year and turned it down. There really isn't much value to be had for him.

I traded my 1st rounder before the deadline to attain Blount. Now, it looks like my 1st round pick will be #2. I like him, just not sure that he's going to end up being anything more than a Brandon Jacobs. Not sure he's elite #1 RB status. I do like him though. Ronnie Brown has been a huge disappointment. He was also a trade mistake a few years ago. Westbrook falling off the planet really hurt my team, along with McCoy not falling to me in the draft.

I'll be working on bringing in another decent RB, but they are valued very highly so it'll need to be the right team with the right needs. Folks are generally shy of a multiplayer for a player deal. Makes things a bit more challenging. Not to mention I'm still honing my "snake oil" talents.

Thanks guys for taking the time to provide quality opinions here....again, much appreciated.

I agree w Miller. The most glaring thing I see (and I fear you missed the boat already on his peak, which was at the deadline) is Owens. Get what you can EARLY on him this offseason. He shoulda been dealt to a contender at the deadline, TO's offseason market has been notoriously bad the past few years.

Almost had him traded just before the deadline, but the coach decided to roll with what he had. Good thing for him I guess because injuries hit him bad and all hopes collapsed for a championship this year. But you're right. The best I can get for him I believe would be a 3rd rounder...if that. Might try a package deal and see if he can maybe push something in my favor.
