cbssports.com,

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Ravens will likely release RB Willis McGahee. McGahee is under contract to the Ravens for 2011, but 2012 and 2013 are option years, according to seven-year contract he signed in 2007. When asked if McGahee would be released by the team General manager Ozzie Newsome replied: "I have said there will be no players released before March 3." He was then asked if McGahee would be on the roster before next season to which he answered: "Right now, there are a lot of things that could happen before next season." However, ProFootballTalk.com reported McGahee will not be cut until a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.

Analysis: This appears be to about the money for the Ravens as McGahee's salary will increase from $3.6 million last season to $6 million in 2011.

This has a chance of being good news for McGahee depending of course on where he lands if he is released. He can carry a bigger load than he's getting playing behind Rice IMO.

It's even bigger good news for Rice. Now hopefully he won't lose so many TDs to a vulture...although McClain is still there.

Baltimore Ravens RB Willis McGahee is not inclined to play for less than his $6 million salary for the 2011 season, according to NFL.com.

Willis turns 30 in October. He has already shown signs of slowing down.....I think he is a role player at best right now and will be out of the league after a max of 2 more yrs.

What do the Saints have? Pay the man his $6 million and enjoy having a solid RB next year while you groom a drafted guy (or see if Ivory is really worth it)
