Hmmmmmm.........

And the impact to Derrick Mason and Anquan Boldin is now......

Yes, I think this hurts Mason more.

I'm going to have to start digging into Ravens insider reports. I own Mason in a few leagues as a WR#3.

If I'm not back in an hour, send a search party.

Holy Smokes! Nice signing.....however, there is one issue I have with this:

Boldin - electric receiver, but more of a possession guy with great RAC skills. Not a big deep threat.
Housh - Possession guy, works the middle and redzone well. Not a deep threat and does better inside than out.
Mason - Savvy possession receiver, not extending the field, but runs great routes and can work the sideline.
Heap, stretches the middle, but not a homerun threat.

Seems to me like they have a lot of receiving threats with similar skill sets.....

Nonetheless, good signing by them, Flacco is going to dink and dunk rown the field the year.

From a value standpoint:
Boldin - I think this will boost his value a little, nice threat opposite him, takes more pressure off.
Housh - value down a little from Seattle, but not a huge difference.
Mason - he takes a hit. Father time goes from being the best receiver on the team last year to the 3rd. Will still have some value in ppr leagues, but he's no longer a guy I'd consider as anything but depth.

Baltimore is starting to look a like New Orleans in the WR department.

Is it possible that this hurts Rice a little too?

It really looks like this team is gearing up to throw a TON this year. Not chance of Rice repeating his reception totals from last year with all these other options now.

Ravens agreed to terms with WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh on a one-year, $855,000 contract.

This came out of left field. The Ravens already have two aging possession receivers in Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason, so it's hard to see where Housh fits. He's the No. 3 receiver at best in a run-heavy offense, and will have to beat out Mark Clayton just to earn that position. The egotistical former Seahawk is an extremely inexpensive gamble as insurance for the Ravens, but offers no fantasy upside. He's not worth a roster spot in 12-team leagues. Sep. 6 - 11:29 am et

doesn't matter how they do it as long as they move the ball downfield! Plus with all these guys getting 8 yards a pop it will give the Defense a chance to rest and keep fresh...:)

BTW Clayton is now on the trading block and will be cut if they can't get anything for him

Can't argue with that, but it does make it easier to cover if you don't have to worry about anyone getting behind you. This is just yet another example of why it is important to have 3 corners that can line up and cover receiver man on man.......hmmmm, wonder who has that :cunning:

See, now here's a pendulum that still has its swing.

Offensive scheming vs Defensive scheming.

Power DBs start taking over islands to the WR corps start loading up on short and long range missiles. I'm starting to hear faint echos of "you sunk my battleship" in mixed in subliminally behind the war cry tones of the NFL theme song.

Not Clayton and the Rams...... I'm talking about the Ravens.
