When asked what position he feels most comfortable with right now, Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said RB Steven Jackson. Spagnuolo called him "one of the premier backs in the league" and said he "stuck out" in the offseason.

Begining to sound like a lot of carries to me.

Don't forget:

Beat writer Jim Thomas says it "would be a shock" if rookie tackle Jason Smith doesn't start on opening day. Smith, the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, is penciled in at right tackle.

The coach says he will compete for the job but is is a good bet he wiil Be The Man opening day.

He's my siren. He lures in me to his size, ability, and fluffy news reports... then dashes me against the rocks of lingering injuries. And yet I keep coming back for more.

I wish I knew how to quit you

Hypnotic, Yes!

One really great year.

While he wasn't the instrument of your teams success.

Neither was he the instrument of your teams destruction.

At the end of the year the stats were good but not great.

Can you get me the Kool Aid pitcher again, please.

Steven Jackson, The NFLs' Mothman.

He worries me too much with his injuries. If he could stay healthy for a whole season, his numbers would be amazing.

You should write a sad song for SJax. "The ballad of SJax" by O.

I won't touch this guy with a ten foot pole. He may be back but I simply don't buy it. I think St. Louis is in transition...and will be really bad...and defenses will target him until Bulger and the young Wrs can prove they can win a game.

If he could run a little more north instead of east and west, his numbers would be amazing. And if only he could find the endzone with a little more frequency. The yards are there, but not the points.

If SJax were to hear that comment about heavy workload, he would def agree!

I can be the horse in 2009!

Then comes week 4 and Fred Taylor type stuff the rest of the way.

You gonna mind and pass on "Fragie Jaxie".

The only guy I feel worse for than he who pics SJax is he who backs him up with Frank Gore

Yeah....im not much on snapped bones

Even if they occur during yet another unfortunate "staircase mishap"? LOL

Jax is intriguing to me because although his supporting cast is.. subpar?, he's still one of the dwindling handful of non-commitee RB's. Also his divisional rivals' defenses aren't exactly stellar so he can rack during those weeks, at least.
Of course, as is the case with alot of first round guys, how many of those weeks will he not have the dreaded "Q" beside his name?

If you're happy getting 14 games, 1400'ish total yards and 11'ish TD's out of your first round pick, then he's your guy. The crappy aspect is if you take him, he might miss half the year. If you pass on him, he could wind up as the #1 ranked RB by season's end.

Coming at you
Id call an injury causing you to miss signifigant time major.

So were on the same page, I took the "snapped bones" comment to be referring to Gore. If so, no major injuries since entering the pro's. Missed two games last year with a sprained ankle and one the prior year with a strained neck. Wanted to play after missing one game last year, but team made the decision to keep him out another week. Gore is a warrior who has a great work ethic. Great conditioning program (from what I read) and a student of the game. Watches a ton of film in an effort to be the best player possible. Surprised that people still consider him an injury risk. 5 missed games in 4 years...................

I pray others pass on him and he is available late first or early 2nd.....................

If the comment was directed at Jackson, my bad....................

He's batting .250 (1 for 4) in regards to 16-game seasons, but you could say that about a couple other first round types. If he can go the full sched with no game time decisions or missed halves/games, he'll be worth a first round pick. I'd certainly treat myself to some Coffee later on in my draft though, if I somehow select Gore.
