-- Ray Lewis: Crime Will Increase If No NFL Games --
Sun May 22, 2011 --from FFMastermind.com
ESPN reports one of the consequences of a lost NFL season will be an increase in crime, Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis said in a wide-raging one-on-one interview with ESPN. "Do this research if we don't have a season -- watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game," Lewis told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio. That's because, Lewis said, the NFL lockout affects "way more than us" -- the owners and the players. "There's too many people that live through us, people live through us," he said. "Yeah, walk in the streets, the way I walk the streets, and I'm not talking about the people you see all the time." When asked why he thought crime would increase if the NFL doesn't play games this year, Lewis said: "There's nothing else to do Sal."

This reminds me of the whole Light the basketball courts at 2:00 A.M. thing, instead of just going home and sleeping.

This fits here too.

-- Glen Coffee: NFL Ruins People --
Sun May 22, 2011 --from FFMastermind.com
NBC Sports reports RB Glen Coffee, the 49ers’ 2009 third-round draft pick who retired at age 23 after one season in the NFL, has a simple explanation for why he doesn’t ever see himself returning: He doesn’t want his life to be ruined. Coffee told the Sacramento Bee that’s what he thinks the NFL does to players. “As far as the NFL goes, I have a hard time putting it like this because it sounds kind of harsh, but I feel like it ruins a lot of lives more than anything else,” Coffee said. “And that goes for people who have short careers in the NFL and long careers in the NFL. Because what happens is they see that as success.” Coffee says it bothers him that so many people have a hard time accepting that he’d walk away from the potential to make millions of dollars playing football. “People just keep asking me that, and it’s like, ‘OK, why are you asking me that?’ And their No. 1 reason – their only reason – is money,” Coffee said. “It saddens me, man. If your only focus is money, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. A lot of people, they chase money. And when they get the money, they think, ‘OK, what now? There’s got to be more than what I’m feeling now.’” Coffee is currently working on getting his degree from Alabama and is considering a career in ministry.

Maybe this is the crime Ray lewis was alluding to.

-- Bart Scott: Bordering on the Verge of Insanity --
Fri May 20, 2011 --from FFMastermind.com
The National Football Post reports LB Bart Scott can't wait for the lockout to be over. The outspoken New York Jets linebacker told ESPN, per the New York Daily News, that the work stoppage has gotten way out of hand. "We’re bordering now on the verge of insanity," Scott said. "Fans don’t want to hear about lockout. They don’t want to hear about people arguing over $9 billion. They want the bottom line. Because at the end of the day, these guys are saving up throughout the entire year to come out and spend their hard earned money to see football. And we’re telling them that they can spend their hard earned money but we’re not playing until we figure it out."
