Preseason: Cowboys/49ers- Thoughts

DMac draws the start due to an injured Randle. I don't expect anything but would like to be proved wrong.

What the heck will Kaep do?

How about Hyde who is thought too highly of IMO.

Can the 9ers play any defense at all?

2 carries 11 yards for Hyde. Not a bad start. Hey the 9ers can return punts too, if you hadn't heard that yet.

I may well be wrong about Hyde. Nice run on his 3rd carry.

Through two processions DMac has 3 carries for 4 yards.

The 9er MVP may be the former rugby player that returns punts. That dude is crazy good.

In a surprise move Randle has replaced DMac.

Where did Romo go? He barely played at all

Banged up offensive line and I guess the coaches got the word from Nate Newton that Romo should not be in the game behind them?

Nate wasn't happy in the Cowboys pregame that they were planning on playing Romo.

9er D intercepts the Cowboy 3rd string QB and runs it back for 6. Maybe the media buried the 9er defense too soon?

Media has been brutal to 49ers and they will eat crow to a degree this year. I see them finishing .500, maybe a game better, but won't be the disaster most are predicting.

-Tomsula will prove to be a very good coach. Excellent teacher and seems very well organized. You can see that in how the offense gets in and out of the huddle.

-They still have a lot of good players on defense. Bowman was a top 3 defensive player and having him back will be huge. Too bad Willis couldn't come back and too bad Smith is an idiot. With those two at full strength, they would still be a top 5 defense.

-They have to move Martin out of the guard position and put him back at center. Getting beat like an ugly stepchild. Would much rather Brandon Thomas or Looney playing guard.

Hyde looked good tonight.

Hayne is a remarkable athlete. Guy has great moves and will be a huge asset in the return game. Very natural and fluid.

That guy was good on every return and I hear he was last week too so it isn't a fluke. Congratulations "E", I don't think that you are in for as long of a season as I thought. Now if you could only find a QB.

That will be key this year. If Kaep takes the next step and improves his game, it's huge for the organization. If not, then they are back to square one at the most important position.

I have a feeling he will do well. Threw a nice back shoulder to Smith that just missed being a TD. They have to protect better and that means replacing Martin at guard.
