A few thoughts by the Sarge on what we saw through Saturday Night:
Philadelphia 33, Jacksonville 32
Philly:
The Eagles have an embarrassment of riches at WR. I expect a couple to be cut and starting on other teams within 3 weeks.
McNabb cant have Vick brought in and then complain when they use him. Probably something that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.
Imagine how much better this already good team would be without the injuries....
Jacksonville:
This team needs a WR to step up.
MJD wont be anything more this year than he was last year
Im interested to see if Ernest Wilford can take the starting TE job
St Louis 24, Cincinnati 21
St Louis:
They should go QB in the first round in 2010.
Samkon Gado is NOT as good as he looked
This defense could be a good one someday
Cincinnati:
They need to look hard at Josh Johnson for backup QB when he comes up
Bernard Scott could and should take Bensons job
Keith Rivers will have a great season
Miami 10, Tampa Bay 6
Miami:
The Fins are going to be just fine at QB
Perhaps Fasano needs to be the offenses second look past Ginn in the air
I think Ricky is just about done
Tuna should trade for Brandon Marshall, crush his ego, and ride that pony to the playoffs.
Tampa Bay:
Byron Lefty is the starter. God be with you.
Until another injury hits, Caddy has really muddied this backfield
Should have kept Brooks one more year
New England 27, Washington 24
New England:
Tom Brady will be and is just fine. Find someone else to talk about.
Try talking about his backups, who combine to totally suck
It is time to officially delete Lawrence Maroney. He keeps roster space tied up that could be used on real players like Julian Edelman.
Washington:
Memo to all teams: PROTECT YOUR FRIGGIN QB!!!!! This team has taken out 3 of them in 3 weeks. That is Albert Haynesworth over there....
Its time to give Marko Mitchell a shot at the slot position. Hes the only Washington WR who looks like he wants to play
Jason Campbell didnt look too shabby
Green Bay 44, Arizona 37
Green Bay:
This offense is for real. If you took Rodgers as your QB1, pop a top!
This defense is suddenly for real. Capers can do wonders.
JerMichael Finley needs to be the starting TE.
Arizona:
This offense is in deep shit. They better wake up in a hurry
Matt Leinart IS NOT FOR REAL. Please dont mortgage your future on a guy who likely showed up sober for the first time in years.
Chris Wells reminds me of Johnathan Stewart. Both of them WILL cash that paycheck and WILL NOT stay healthy.
Detroit 18, Indianapolis 17
Detroit:
Lots of work to do, but Kevin Smith sure looked good in limited action.
Culpepper needs to be the starter for now. Grow and protect that investment
Keary Colbert has to be allergic to leather as much as he shies away from contact with the football.
Indianapolis:
Id like to see this RB situation shake out. As in someone gain some damn yards.
Peyton Manning is ready for the regular season. Smooth sailing
Dallas Clark looked nice tonight. 6-63 and a score.
New Orleans 45, Oakland 7
New Orleans:
This offense is deadly, and they are finally deep across the board. Super Sleeper....
Lance Moore beat up the Raiders for their lunch money. Draft with confidence.
Brees was on pace for about 500 yards today. WOW.
Oakland:
This team is headed for 1-15. I have never seen a more lazy defense.
Javon Walker looked like he really did sneak in for a play today when he wasnt supposed to. Cut his ass already. Jesus.
Zach Miller and DMac are worth having on your team. It wouldnt have helped much, but JMR really missed Schillins today.
Freakin cut Javon Walker already.
Louis Murphy will develop into a nice #3 for the Raiders as the season progresses
Pittsburgh 17, Buffalo 0
Pittsburgh:
This defense may be better than last year. That in and of itself is scary
Big Ben could almost beat Chuck Norris. Almost. Hell he beat Shaq.
My only question is who will step up for goalline duty.
Buffalo:
Farrior is right. They need to huddle and figure out what they are doing
Trent needs to target TO 30 times a game. No one else wants to step up.
This is Jaurons last year in Buffalo. Take it to the bank.
Cleveland 23, Tennesee 17
Cleveland:
BRAYLON DIDNT DROP A TD PASS!!!!!!! Wow.
Quinn probably won the starting job on that one. For now.
James Davis needs to take Jamal Lewis behind the barn and shoot him. He should be the starter no questions asked.
Tennessee:
I think this team needs to play its starting WRs later this last game and see if anyone really wants to be the man.
Vince Young doesnt give a damn anymore. Trade him.
Jared Cook has earned at least 10 snaps a game IMO. Lets see what he can do when the games count.
San Francisco 20, Dallas 13
San Francisco:
SF has one hell of a tandem back there with Gore and Coffee.
They should keep this Sheets kid. What a monster backfield.
I was glad to see Nate Davis play well. I really think he should get a couple looks in garbage time later this year.
Crab who?
Dallas:
Barber does all the work, Jones gets the goalline gravy. Sounds about right.
Who wants to be the #2 WR? I dont know, but I still wish theyd look at Matt Jones. Seriously.
Jon Kitna needs to pray for Tony Romo. Come on dude, its not November.
Seattle 14, Kansas City 10
Seattle:
Ive got the backfield figured out. The tandem needs to be Forsett and James. Fire Julius Jones already.
Carlson and TJ....gravy....just gravy.
Looks to me like Hass is truly recovered and ready. Look out NFC West
Kansas City:
Cassell went down. Ruh Roh.....
Who wants to be the #2 WR? I havent got my shot.....
Matt Gutiwhatever had a nice completion percentage. Too bad two of them went to the Seahawks.....
Atlanta 27, San Diego 24
San Diego:
Everything looks all systems go for the offense.
Is Chris Chambers ever going to step up and play?
Gantrell Johnson probably made the 53 man roster with his play today
Atlanta:
Not a whole lot to say here. Looked to me like a team thats locked, loaded, and ready for the regular season.
Baltimore 17, Carolina 13
Baltimore:
Man Flacco looked great today. Now, is that bad news for the AFC or great news for the NFC?
Ray Rice was the leading receiver today. Looks like that draft pick you spent on him was worth it.
Ray Lewis continues to eat peoples children. Baltimore's D looks NASTY.
Carolina:
Jiggy Jake looks shitty so far. Not good news for Steve Smith owners
Mike Goodson will be called upon this year. Call it a hunch
Rumors of Dwayne Jarretts appearance were overrated. Cut time.
New York Jets 27, New York Giants 25
Jets:
Sanchez looked fine. I liked how he didnt have that deer in the headlights look now he knows its his team
Looks like Stuckey is making a play to beat Clowney for the #2 spot. Yes, another landing pad that needs Brandon Marshall.
Pay Leon Washington already....
Giants:
Heard of this Hakeem Nicks guy? You will.
Eli didnt look too good today. Hope this is the exception and not the $90 something million dollar rule.
I think this defense will miss Spagnuolo this season
Well, thats my sum it up on one view of what we saw.
