Okay, I doubt this is complete, but it has the major players. I would love to see how everyone ranks them, and which if any you think gets tagged and why.

List, per my ranking:
Wes Welker N.E. - all he does is produce, and other than last year, stays healthy.
Vincent Jackson S.D. - when he is in, and he is all in, he can be unstoppable
Reggie Wayne Ind - costly, but has been a huge producer
Mike Wallace Pit - ONLY reason he is this low is he is a RFA, which makes it really costly to sign away.....
Stevie Johnson Buf - OchoCinco light. But he can perform, if he hangs onto the ball.
Dwayne Bowe K.C. - seems to lose interest every other season, and can get into the dog house
DeSean Jackson Phi - blinding speed, but seems to fear the middle, and has attitude
Mario Manningham N.Y. - can be inconsistent
Marques Colston N.O. - would be higher....if he could EVER put a whole season together.
Pierre Garcon Ind - meh...another inconsistent guy to me.
Brandon Lloyd St.L. - was a total wash early in his career, but if he follows his OC, he produces.
Laurent Robinson Dal. - has been injury issue, but really blossomed last year. One year wonder? :dunno:
Robert Meachem N.O. - Flashes is all he shows, then gets hurt.
Steve Smith Phi. - full year back from catastrophic injury. May be a steal this year.
Braylon Edwards S.F. - another head case, with less talent.

There are others - Jerome Simpson...but he faces jail or suspension, Branch of N.E. - again though injury concerns. Plaxico Burress - didn't show me enough last year.....

Phi did such a stellar job, there's really not much left to talk about until he starts projecting where they will go.

Maybe that would be a good 'sister' thread'.

Potential Free Agent signings by teams - WR edition

maybe?

i gotta say though welker is one of the best examples of a system/qb wr... i don't think he flourishes anywhere else

Saying the NFL is a copycat league is being a copycat.

And the teams they copycat generally play in the Super Bowl.

It's pretty safe to say there's a system/qb out there waiting for Wes.

and even if there isn't, what's wrong with Wes?
He catches the ball, knows where he's qb wants him to be. What's system about that?
Sure, if he goes to a team that tries to feature him the wrong way, it probably won't work.

Perhaps the problem you're having is with Wes being the best available.
This crop of WR's doesn't have a WR better than Wes.
It's that simple.

Who on the list is better gizzil? keeping in mind Phicin's reasons given.

all that being said, I think Wes tries to stay a Pat, making the point moot.

he is staying anyway, true - i think without a doubt wallace is better, vinnie jackson is wayy better but inconsistently "in" haha sure. same w desean hes crazy talent i dont care what happened this year, who knows maybe the walrus said the wrong thing to him. colston is better. wayne was... i havent seen him play in a while. robinson/garcon you don't know yet sure. but that's not just one or two names

Wallace is better, but as an RFA he won't be touched, thus his FA value drops. As for Welker, I watched him some in Miami. He is not just a slot Wr. If he is, please tell me the wr's protecting him now???? That is a crock. Vincent is a baby, who can disappear at times. Not sure he is better. DeSean can't run a route.

Again all are good talents, in my mind though only Welker has no negatives

Welker outside of NE is not the Welker we know......for his own sake, he better stay in NE.....and NE NEEDS him. He is not going anywhere. If he does go; there is a good shot he fades and fades quickly. It would all depend on where he would land. He is also going to be 31 before next season. Have to consider age in looking at FA's.

From a who would I go after perspective considering talent, age and price I would rank them like this (not including Wallace as he's not going anywhere as a RFA):
1. DeSean Jackson - Mr. Excitement. Can get behind anyone and is only 25 yrs old. I know....he's a diva, but aren't all stud WR's? He is a game changer!
2. Vincent Jackson - Health concerns me some, but I think he can excel in most systems and as Phic stated, when he is right, he's a BEAST!
3. Laurent Robinson - I know....wtf right? Well he's 26 yrs old, has shown promise in 2 systems now and broke out last year in Dallas. Injury issues are a concern, but he will be much cheaper than some of the other names on this list. I like this guy a lot and would love to see him in Cincy opposite of AJ Green.
4. Steve johnson - Young, talented and another diva! Needs to worry more about catching the ball, but kid is electric and has a lot of upside.
5. Wes Welker - Just not sure he'd thrive outside of NE's system and with Brady chucking him the rock. Add to that, he's on the wrong side of 30 so he's not a guy I'm building long term around with his price tag. That said, I do love his work ethic and his willingness to do all the little things well.
6. Dwaye Bowe - Some players get the most out of their talents, other never seem to fulfill the promise they have. I think Bowe is the later......has all the tools, just doesn't seem to care enough to get the most out of them.

I echo your thoughts on Bowe. It's a crying shame to see him waste so much talent but he just doesn't have the drive in his heart.

im with miller though i woulda put wallace at the top. i really think welker needs the pats/brady

Wallace would be at the top if he was a UFA, but since he's a RFA and there's no way he's going anywhere I find it pointless to list him.

The only reason I did was there may just be a team that goes maverick and tries to sign him. It will cost them at least a first assuming Pittsburgh does what I expect in an offer. Still, the kid is solid and worth it if you are willing to risk the pick.

I agree, The Steelers will have to pay Wallace $2.7 million to protect him. Bengals have two firsts, they might make an offer just to force the Steelers to pay more by having to match.

Denver also has two first rounders, but don't know if they are fishing for Wrs or not

Why? It's not like they're ever going to throw the ball. They don't need a stud on the outside. All they need is Damaryius Thomas. When they finally throw him the ball, the defense is so stunned that the guy goes for a 75 yd TD.

Per Football Outsiders' Brian McIntyre, the Steelers have freed up over $18 million in cap space since the season ended.
The moves have included cutting CB Bryant McFadden and WR Arnaz Battle, and redoing the contracts of CB Ike Taylor, and LBs Lawrence Timmons and LaMarr Woodley. As of late January, the Steelers were a projected $25M over the cap, so more transactions are coming. They may include releasing WR Hines Ward, NT Casey Hampton, and LG Chris Kemoeatu. The Steelers want to give Mike Wallace a long-term deal rather than try to retain him with a restricted tender. Source: Mac's Football Blog Feb 10 - 2:08 PM

The Steelers are ready for a team to take Wallace.
Any team that tries to do so will get hate twitters from the rest of the leagues GM's.

Freaking Meachem is looking like the best F/A of the year.

Solve that puzzle and you'll see what Phicin is saying.
