Quarterback Rob Bolden will seek a transfer from Penn State, his father told multiple media outlets Sunday.
Robert Bolden Sr. told the website Lions247.com that his son has informed the Nittany Lions coaches of his intentions.
"They're not looking for him to leave, they don't want him to leave, but he no longer wants to play at Penn State," Bolden Sr. said. "He's not happy at Penn State currently. If it was up to me, he definitely [would leave], without a doubt. He's definitely made it known that he does not want to be there anymore."
A message left for a Penn State spokesman was not immediately returned.
Bolden started eight games this season for the Nittany Lions and became the first true freshman to start a season opener for Penn State in 100 years. But he missed a game after suffering a concussion Oct. 23 against Minnesota and then lost the starting job to sophomore Matt McGloin down the stretch.
Penn State coach Joe Paterno earlier Sunday lamented not getting Bolden more playing time. Penn State stuck with McGloin throughout Saturday's Outback Bowl loss to Florida, in which McGloin threw five interceptions.
Bolden's father told the Altoona Mirror that Rob not playing in the bowl game finalized the decision to transfer. The younger Bolden wants to move to an FBS program.
