-- Carson Palmer Rips Ochocinco --
Wed May 20, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the verbal salvos from Bengals QB Carson Palmer about WR Chad Ochocinco's absense from the Bengals this offseason have intensified. On SIRIUS NFL Radio on Tuesday, Palmer issued his strongest criticism yet about the absence of the ninth-year wide receiver. “It's definitely a new look for the Bengals receiver corps but I couldn't be happier with the guys we've got,” Palmer said. “T.J.'s (Houshmandzadeh) gone and Chad's pretty much gone, he hasn't been here, so we've got guys that want those two spots, guys that compete day in and day out, when we're out there on the field, running, conditioning and in the weight room lifting. They're guys that want to take over for those two spots. They look every bit capable of doing what we're going to ask them to do.” When asked what his expectations about Ochocinco this season were, Palmer said: “Well, I really don't know. I haven't talked to him. I haven't talked to anybody that has talked to him. He wasn't here last year so I'm expecting him not to be here at all this year. Last year I think he was here for the mandatory camp but didn't participate in it. So I'm planning on him not being here just because he hasn't been here yet so we'll prepare, like I said. “We've got WR Chris Henry … He's a guy that's had a great offseason, really turned his life around. I'm excited to watch him play. He's a guy that seems like he catches a touchdown every other ball that's thrown to him, he's that explosive. He's kind of taken over for Chad's position and he's a guy that, like I said earlier, does not want to give up that spot right now.” Palmer also lauded the play of WR Laveranues Coles, WR Andre Caldwell and WR Jerome Simpson during the interview on the “Movin' the Chains” show.

Is there any possible way that good chemistry can still exist between these 2?

If not, then which 1 of these WRs is going to step up and be the man?

This is probably the most interesting WR Corp to watch in this offseason. A Lot of potential and a lot of flux in motion here. Might end up with a couple of real draft day values performing over expectations.

doesn't sound good......the thing to watch here is Carson is developing good relationships with the rest of the WR's.....when COC performs how he fits in will be interesting. Hard Knocks has to love a preview like this......

It can never be just quiet in Cincy.....

Okay, color me stupid if you like.....but I like this. Especially from Palmer. Everyone last year and previously has been all over Palmer for "lack of leadership". Now he is out there and he is building up his teammates that has shown up and are working, and is all over Ochocinco for not showing up. Bravo to Palmer for this. Now, as much as I doubt it will happen....I would love to see Chad sitting on the bench for a while and letting the youngsters taking over. Sadly, it will drop his trade value even lower.

I have said it before, and I know Miller does not agree with me. But if the Wrs look like they pan out.....Chad will be gone...ala Willie and Rudy and Levi.

oh, and for the record...I love COC ON the field. It is all the off the field pouting and crap like this that makes me tired of him.

I have to agree with Pihcinfan in being glad to see QB Palmer stepping up into a taking a role as leader also. Other than the injuries it has always seemed like the missing ingredient to the Palmer being a top QB puzzle.

I'm with Phic on this one as well. When I read it I said "Good for Carson!" He needs to step up and take complete control of this team and when and if COC realizes this and plays by this, the Bengals are going to be A LOT better.

Don't get me wrong, I like Palmer saying this.....but this could get ugly if you have the teams two biggest stars taking shots at each other in the media. I hope it doesn't come to that and COC realizes that Carson is simply right....but this is COC and it won't happen.

And yeah, you are crazy if you think the Bengals are going to simply cut COC after TC. Sorry, not going to happen. And as far as trading him, I think if they were going to it would have been done. It's not out of the question, but the chances of him being dealt prior to the season are about 10%.

dude NO ONE calls me a buzzard and gets away with it. :sadbanana:

Buzzard - a play on buzzer - as in your words rang true...

Not buying it?

How about I typed buzzard with an accent like an old gangsta movie - so it really is a kind of compliment.

Darn, that's it. I'll be waiting on the porch for the drive by.

  • -- Chris Henry Looking Good --
    Tue May 26, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
  • One of the pleasant surprises of the Cincinnati Bengals' offseason program is WR Chris Henry, who has participated in OTAs and has been publicly praised by QB Carson Palmer for his diligence according to PFW. Henry, 26, has flashed significant talent in his four NFL seasons, and never more so than in his first two campaigns, when he caught a combined 15 touchdowns. However, several off-the-field incidents have helped to limit his progress; he missed 14 games because of three NFL suspensions from 2006-2008. In many respects, Henry's career hangs in the balance; he is entering the final season of his contract, and the Bengals have exercised considerable patience with him. With WR Chad Ochocinco skipping the Bengals' most recent OTAs, Henry has moved into his spot in the lineup. A source close to the club remarked that Henry has played well in OTAs, a positive sign for a club looking for more punch from the passing game this season.
