Re: Packers cut ILB AJ Hawk

Probably resign for less money.

He was on the NFL Network last week and seemed pretty bummed when they asked him about leaving GB......................

Packers Release A.J. Hawk & Two Others; Hope to Re-Sign Hawk --
Wed Mar 2, 2011 --from FFMastermind.com
ESPN reports the Green Bay Packers have released LB A.J. Hawk after the former first-round pick was scheduled to earn $10 million in 2011. "With A.J., the business side of the game is driving this decision," GM Ted Thompson said in a statement. "We're hopeful that we can continue to work with A.J. to have him be a part of our team in the future." Hawk, drafted fifth overall in 2006, had 111 tackles in 2010 after finishing with less than 90 tackles in each of the previous two seasons. Hawk also had three interceptions this season and has played in all 80 regular-season games since then with 77 starts. The Super Bowl Champions also cut TE Donald Lee and S Derrick Martin.

Re: Packers cut ILB AJ Hawk

It tells me Barnett's recovery is going well

sounds like Nick is on the block now

A source with knowledge of the situation said Thursday that the Packers will explore trading Barnett, who broke his wrist during a Week 4 game against the Detroit Lions, opening the door for Desmond Bishop to line up next to Hawk and emerge as a core player.

Trading Barnett won't happen until a collective bargaining agreement is reached between the NFL and NFL Players Association, but the eight-year veteran could have value because there aren't that many quality inside or middle linebackers available in free agency.

Re: Packers cut ILB AJ Hawk

Packers coach Mike McCarthy confirmed at the Wisconsin Pro Day Wednesday that ILB Nick Barnett is no longer considered a starter. "We line up tomorrow, it's A.J. and Bishop," said McCarthy. Barnett would be the highest paid backup linebacker in the league if he receives the $6.025 million he's due in 2011. $375,000 of that amount is available in an offseason roster bonus, so Barnett may not even make it to training camp with the Pack.

Cut and resign to a more friendly deal (AJ)....... rinse and repeat????
