New York Jets RB Shonn Greene, during an interview on SIRIUS NFL Radio, said he is 100 percent healthy after suffering some torn rib cartilage during the playoffs. He has completely recovered from the injury.

Sounds like he is good to Go. What part of the RBBC pie he gets remains to be seen.

I doubt he's going to see 80% in that offense. The Jets ran the ball a league high 607 times last year and while they may look for a little more balance, don't expect a huge drop off either. This team should be looking at 525 team carries or more.

So 80% of last years number would be a staggering 485 carries!! If you go 80% of the 525 you are still looking at 420 carries, again, not going to happen.

Last year Thomas Jones was 2nd in the league with 331 carries. That is only 54.5% of the team carries. Greene was the next highest with 17.7% of the carries while Leon Washington who was hurt mid year had 11.8%. The top 3 combined for 84% of the carries with the other 16% spread around between QB, wildcat packages, FB's and WR's.

The core 3 combined for around 510 carries, even looking at 80% of that your at 408 carries. What I see this year in NY is Greene taking on the Jones roll and taking around 45-50% of the carries in the offense. That will put him in the 240 to 290 carry range. LT and Washington will be last year's Greene and Washington. They will combine for around 190-220 carries.

The good thing about this RBBC is there are a TON of carries to go around.

Maybe 80-20 is a bit much, i see LT used more on 3rd down and the redzone more.

LT has not found the fountain of youth, he is still a step slower just like with the Chargers

I don't think Greene will ever be Thomas Jones either though so LT doesn't have to be as good as he was to still make a larger impact on the carry percentages.

LT is a step slower, but he will be playing behind a far superior offensive line. If LT is 70% of what he used to be, that line should add another 10%. That a'int bad.

don't discount washington though . . . if he comes back from injury, he is more explosive than LT at this point in their careers.

Each year has supposed to be Washington's break out season - I am considering him a big "if" to live up to his billing now until he gets back on the field and shows something.

Lol, It's always been a major hype with him and Falcons RB Scott Norwood when it comes to Break Out seasons. Maybe we should have some vbuck action on this close call. :D

This may be true about the OL being far superior.

LT still lines up the same amount of yards behind the QB and the OL which in turn will still take him just as long to get to the line of scrimmage.

Still a good move for the Jets.

I am leery about Greene and although I will concede the high reward potential I also consider him a high risk if drafting him early and counting on him to firmly establish himself as the teams #1 for the entire season.

That could be why they overpaid to get LT2. Greene will be the starter, but they wanted solid depth behind him incase he becomes fragile. I also think this is why they kept Washington. They will still need the change of pace back...and pass catching that Washington offers.

Remember folks, Ryan was in Baltimore when the three headed Rb combo really worked well for Baltimore with McClain, Rice and McGahee.
