Notre Dame's Clausen not among the first 20 drafted?

From rotoworld,

ESPN's Chris Mortensen predicts that Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen will not be drafted in the top-20 picks.

This isn't a report; Mortensen is guessing. Still, he relays that plenty of teams "like" Clausen, but so far have been unable to find "reasons to love him." Mort predicts that the Bills will pass on Clausen if he falls to No. 9. Unless the Jaguars' (drafting 10th) interest in Clausen is sincere, a serious free fall could begin at that point, perhaps to as late as Minnesota (No. 30). Mar. 31 - 8:37 pm et

I don't see him falling all the way to number 30, do y'all see any chance he slips that low?

Rodgers dropped into the 20's back in the day and I do not consider Clausen likely to be as good as him. I realize the talent shifts each year but if teams are going with other positions for their initial picks I can see him dropping in this range. Once you get by Seattle's 2nd pick at #14 who other than Arizona do you think would give him serious consideration?

There are plenty of teams early on that could use him but the talent this year seems to be focused elsewhere which may convince some to take their chances with who is left at QB on their 2nd time around.

I have no reason to think he will not succeed but as I posted on the other thread I have been toying with keeping McCoy ahead of him in my rankings. At this point it appears I am probably in the minority there but I think they are close enough for teams to be willing to accept who falls if it means they address another need 1st.

I think this could be one of those years Qbs slip.

Teams that could be looking for Qbs as soon to be starters in my mind:
St. Louis, Buffalo, Cleveland, Washington, Denver(not sure on Quinn), Raiders, Jaguars, Vikings, Panthers. They are in dire need.

Teams that may take later flyers depending on value:
Miami( is Henne the man?), New England (Brady getting older), Steelers( Dropping Jail time Ben?), Tennesee( Young last year a fluke?), Cardinals and 49ers ( Lienart and Smith just may not be IT).

So due to the question marks of all these Qbs.....taking OL or DL or some other talent and taking chances the Qbs slip may not be a bad move. Heck Seattle would be my ONLY concer if I am St. Louis......as I think Buffalo won't go Qb early. Washington might.

SL - Not sure we will have a clear picture which way they are leaning until draft time. Don't think they can go wrong with Bradford but getting a player like McCoy or Suh is tempting to see what QB's fall into the 2nd round.

WA - Campbell is not their guy but I don't see the QB position being such a weakness that they don't address other needs first. If Bradford is there I could see making the change as I have him well ahead of the others but at #4 I don't see the other QB options as value.

Sea - I think they slide by the #6 pick without a QB but at #14 available QB's could suddenly start looking very appealing.

Cle - I like Wallace as depth during a time of transition. I can even grow to like Delhomme as a stop gap solution at this stage of his career. QB makes sense if they are sold on someone other than Bradford (I refuse to think he will be available)

Oak - I don't want to get caught up in the J'Marc hate but a veteran has to be brought in in case he continues to struggle in the short term and a replacement must be found for the future. Does that mean 1st round or wait and develop someone like Pike, Lefleur... later?

Buf/Jax - I know both have questions about their current options but I do not see the position being the primary cause either team has struggled to warrant this type of investment.

Food for thought. (Which could realistically become the scenario that pans out)

Brady Quinn, Notre Dame QB. Gets bypassed by Cleveland in the top-5 in favor of an O-lineman (Joe Thomas), who then trades back into the later 1st round to select Quinn after he started sliding.

Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame QB. Gets bypassed by Washington in the top-5 in favor of an O-lineman (Russell Okung), who then trades back into the later 1st round to select Clausen after he started sliding.

Moral of the story: If Clausen decides to attend the draft in NYC, he might wanna bring along a hot blonde armpiece girlfriend, in case we're stuck watching him for awhile.

There's no doubt that he may slip. Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL- draft, season or postseason. You get to Washington, and there are plenty of options for them. Clausen, Okung, Bryant, Spiller (bit of a reach)... Until he works out for Shanny, I feel like they don't really know yet.
