Though coach Jim Harbaugh said Sunday that "it's possible" that Crabtree (foot) could return to practice this week, the wideout is still unlikely to play in Thursday's preseason finale, the Sacramento Bee reports. Crabtree's status for the 49ers' regular-season opener is unknown.
What has been revealed is that he reportedly fractured his left foot during a player-run practice on June 6 and then had surgery on the foot prior to the start of training camp. In any case, the clock is ticking and with each day that passes, the chances that Crabtree (who remains on the PUP list) will make an early-season splash, seem to diminish.
