Niners grab WR Mario Manningham

The San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent WR Mario Manningham (Giants) to a two-year contract Saturday, March 17. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

I like the signing. Manningham will be a solid #3 receiver and huge upgrade over Ginn and Josh Morgan.

Crabby, Moss (even at reduced skills) and Manningham make for a very sold group of WRs. Big upgrade over last year and no longer a team weakness.

I tell you, I am so impressed with the way Trent Balke does business. Very calculated. Not subject to foolish, snap decisions.

Look at the way they handled the Manning pursuit. Slow played it. Didn't come out and say they wanted him at any price. Met with him on the down low and talked about the current football aspect of the situation, not life after football. Peyton is a "now" kind of guy and SF has a great situation for him to win now and put little brother back in his place as the #2 Manning. I keep hearing how he doesn't want to compete with Eli by playing in the same conference. BS!

I like this move more if they do get Manning. A.Smith has a noodle arm. Nice job by San Fran hanging back and getting good value though.
