So Ced Benson is a Packer: I saw this KFFL blurb in the news under the category of who proofreads this stuff???

(KFFL) Green Bay Packers RB Cedric Benson has recorded 12 fumbles in each of the past two seasons. What??? I know RBs who sat the rest of the year for one fumble......... it only took 15 seconds to prove this one untrue.

Skins RB Tim Hightower (knee) is expected to participate in team drills Friday and be ready to play in the third or fourth preseason game, the Washington Post reports. The plot thickens in Washington.

Panther WR David Gettis (knee) was at practice Tuesday but was not wearing pads or a jersey, the Charlotte Observer reports. Gettis spent most of the session on an exercise bike, as he continues to work his way back from a torn ACL. When he does return, he'll be in a battle with Louis Murphy and Seyi Ajirotutu for the No. 3 wideout spot.

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten (spleen) suffered a spleen injury in the team's preseason opener and will miss the rest of the preseason, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. At this time, it's not believed that surgery will be required; however, it hasn't completely been ruled out. Witten has not yet been ruled out for Week 1. Ruh Roh!! Not great news here.

Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Lions RB Javid Best (concussion) is likely to start the season on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list, which would keep him on the sidelines for the the first six regular season contests, ESPN reports.

Raiders WR Denarius Moore (hamstring) is not close to returning to Raiders practice based on a side workout with a trainer Wednesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Analysis: Moore's hamstring must still be hampering him, making it doubtful he sees the field during Friday's preseason game at Arizona. He likely won't practice again until his blazing speed is near 100 percent.

Steeler Running back Isaac Redman is slated for an MRI on his injured groin.

Officially, TE Jason Witten has a slightly lacerated spleen and must remain "still and idle" the next 8-to-10 days, according to Dallas coach Jason Garrett, the NFL Network reports. After the aforementioned length of time, Witten will be reevaluated, but as of right now, surgery is not on the docket.

Pats WR Jabar Gaffney was seen icing his right quadriceps during Wednesday's practice, the Boston Globe reports. Considering Gaffney is engulfed in a battle to supply depth behind starting wideouts Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd, he -- along with owners in rather deep leagues -- should hold out hope that the injury isn't too serious.

Ravens WR Torry Smith (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, which raises concern whether he'll play in Friday's preseason game against Detroit, the Baltimore Sun reports. Smith sustained the ankle sprain in last Thursday's exhibition versus Atlanta, and has only been able to practice one time since the injury. One of those I''l be back tomorrow injuries that is starting to linger on a bit.

Both Gronk and Lloyd have missed a couple of Patriots practices...... but both are back and no info is available.
