New Rumor on Braylon Edwards

He is still going to NY, but the Jets not the Giants. Latest rumor has Jets sending disgruntled Rb Thomas Jones to Cleveland for Edwards. Just a rumor though.............

Hey, Tony: Thomas Jones is unhappy with the Jets and last season put up Pro Bowl numbers including 1,300 yards and 13 TDs. The Jets drafted Shonn Greene and already have Leon Washington. Any chance the Jets release Jones and he becomes the next Cleveland Jet? A two-headed monster pounding the rock in Cleveland would be a welcome sight. -- Aaron Howell, Canton.

Hey, Aaron: Rex Ryan knows that Mangini would scoop up Jones in a New York second if Jones were released. More likely is a future trade involving Jones and, yes, Edwards. You heard it here first.

No kidding, Greene would sky rocket in rookie drafts.....and Davis for Cleveland would plummet.

As one who just took both Greene and Davis in a dynasty draft, I'd still be smiling ear to ear! If this happens, I'd expect Lewis to be released which in reality would leave Davis in a similar situation, back-up to an aging back. May get a shot at some point, may not.

Greene would look real good behind that line if Jones is gone.

This would be the dumbest possible thing the Browns could do.

Why in the hell are they trying so hard to move Braylon? He is their only weapon.

Stonehands. And it seems all Hoodie clones have a compulsion to blow up their teams completely before they get fired.

They are better off to drop Edwards and his piss poor attitude.

I disagree. This team needs a playmaker on offense. Jamal is getting old and has a lot of miles. They got rid of Kellen, and the rest of the WRs are awful and inexperienced.

Regardless of which guy they have at QB, they will NEED Braylon to make it work.

If this team losses Braylon, it's going to be a LONG season.

It is going to be a LONG season regardless. Might as well get what you can for Edwards now and build a solid team toward the future.

This football team is in no position to compete in the AFC. Moving Edwards is a smart decision.

I have to agree here. Cleveland won't make the playoffs with Pittsburgh and Baltimore ahead of them. If they can get any value at all, like a Thomas Jones to make the running game work...it would be a good move by them.

I believe that Edwards will be a free agent after this year, so you might as well try to get something for him if you can.

Wow. Seriously??

Braylon Edwards for Thomas Jones. That is so ridiculous.

A 26 year old stud WR for a 31 year old RB?

How does that make any sense?

Also, how is it looking to the future if you trade your best youthful WR for an aged RB at a non position of need?

The assumption is they would also get a draft pick or two to go with Jones. Especially since Jones is ticked over his contract as well.

Solid plan by Mangenius. :)

  • The Canton Repository reports the Browns now are in position to trade WR Braylon Edwards if they want, and to part ways with WR Donte Stallworth as it seems they intend. The team signed WR Mike Furrey on Tuesday, barely a week after drafting WR Brian Robiskie and WR Mohamed Massaquoi in Round 2. The team also signed veteran WR David Patten in March. Trading Edwards would remain risky, leaving the Browns with two older, complementary guys (Patten, Furrey) and two untested rookies (Robiskie, Massaquoi) as the top four on their wideout depth chart.

Why bring in an over-30 RB to compete with another over-30 RB?

This trade is ridiculous for Cleveland when they could've got a better draft pick return for Edwards if they dealt him 2 weeks ago.

Their back to back WR draft picks are looking smarter and smarter as the days go by though.

Thank you thank you thank you.

I thought I was the only one here who saw how retarded this trade is.
