Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that he instructed Vince Young to leave the team's facility Monday because he was not welcome at the squad meeting that was held to discuss the quarterback's volatile standing with the team.

A source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that while the team cannot ban Young from the facility, his presence at future position meetings, practices and games would not be welcome after he walked out on the team following Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins.

Young, who has been placed on injured reserve, will be allowed to seek treatment at the team's facility for his thumb, which requires surgery for a torn tendon.

The team said in a statement that Young will be treated as most players who are on injured reserve, where their presence is not required.

"Yesterday, he was informed by a coach at the facility not to attend Monday's team meeting and was free to leave. The intention was to be able to talk to the team about Young's situation and how the team would move forward," the Titans said in a statement. "Players that are on injured reserve are not required to attend team meetings.

"As of today, [Young] has been placed on injured reserve and all the same rules apply to him as to any other player in that category."

Following Sunday's overtime loss to Washington, Young and Fisher had a heated exchange in the locker room after Young tossed his pads and jersey into the stands.

Young said his biggest issue with Fisher is that Fisher lacked the confidence in him to return to the game when Young thought he could have continued playing with his thumb injury.

"It was very frustrating," Young said in a Sunday night telephone conversation with ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Rusty Smith, No. 2 on the depth chart, replaced Young in the game. Fisher said the rookie will start against Houston.

VY is a train wreck that needs his hand held and handled with care or his little feelings on hs shoulders get hurt and he stomps off pouting. It all started a few years back when he had his meltdown an hasnt been the same since. Time for the Titans to move on w/o him.

The Titans owner Bud Adams has much man-love for V.Young.

Im backing HC J.Fishers decision but i believe he signed his own death warrant and wont be coaching in Tennessee next season.

I don't think so.
Call me stupid, but Bud knows where his bread is buttered. Fisher has been an incredible coach. That being said though...does Fisher want to leave? Could that be why he is doing this?

Tennessee would be an extremely attractive opening. Cowher or Gruden could instantly turn that squad into a 12 win team.
