per the Mike and Mike show: It looks like Peyton Manning will get the Franchise Tag applied to him by Indy when teams start to use their Tags tomorrow.

Yeah, It locks him up and pays him about what he should get this year anyhow. Average of the top 5 QBs.

it is a solid move, as with teh CBA in the air, you can't get the total increase he will want. Good short time move.

Yes, I saw this at PFT. Union's point of view is the FT is for the next season. Once CBA expires, there is no next season, so FT should not apply. NFL sees it differently. This will probably have to be negotiated as well.
