The AFC East -
Miami - Great game against the Jets. I think in another year this is the kind of game Henne wins. What lacks? A TE. Even a middle of the road TE would do wonders for this team. Fasano scares no one, and he sure isnt a safety blanket.
Buffalo - Buffalo fought hard, but in the end it was still the same result. Another day, another loss. Better yet, when Fitzpatrick goes down, and trust me, he will go down before the end of the year, you get to see the soulful styings of Brian Brohm. 2-14 is the record I see.
NY Jets - LT looks pretty solid to me. Definately outplaying the youngster. As far as the Edwards issue, it would be in Tannenbaums best interest to shut the hell up. Please. You cant make yourselves look any less interested in his crime than you already have. After Baltimore, New England, and Miami, Im waiting to see what the Sanchize does aganst a softer opponent.
New England - A week after I call them professional, they almost get caught by the Fluffalo Bills. Still a solid team, and at least for a week they seem to have found a RB who can churn out some yards. Keep an eye on Woodhead.
AFC North -
Pittsburgh - Im happy to see Batch ride off into the sunset a winner. This defense is just flat out scary. Baltimore/Pittsburgh will be epic this year, and I would love to personally watch Jets/Steelers.
Baltimore - I applaud Flacco for figuring out what we already knew. Throw the ball early and often to Boldin. Late too. Pretty much anytime during the game will work. Im hoping the defense just had an off day against the Browns, though I think the Zbikowski hit was just all around cheap.
Cincinnati - So I heard Benson will be getting "less" carries. Methinks thats a lie. Who else will share the carries? Ocho, TO, Shipley, and Gresham. If they never throw another pass to a guy by any other name, this will still be a potent offense. To top it off, the Bengals played a crap game, and still won handily.
Cleveland - Peyton Hillis. I wasnt a fan. After injuries put him to the forefront, Im pleased now. Past Peyton Hillis? Not much. The crazy thing about this team? They are like 10 points from being 2-1. Interesting.....
AFC South -
Houston - Houston vs Dallas was a BIG game. Houston fell FLAT on its arse. Still, at 2-1 there are alot of things to like about the Texans, save the horrible secondary, the achillies heel of this team. Houston should use the power game to get by Oakland this weekend, but never underestimate Gradkowski and Louis Murphy.
Titans - Im not sure how to think of the Titans right now. On paper, they throttled the Giants. However, the Giants sure did help. Id leave the jury out until after this weekends game vs Denver, a pretty potent passing offense with enough weapons around the field to keep Cortland Finnigan busy.
Jacksonville - Just when I think they couldnt get worse, the Jags surpass my expectations. I first posted the thought Trent Edwards would be a Jag pretty quick, and I got a good laugh this evening when I saw the pickup. Now the only thing keeping Garrard starting will be how fast Edwards can learn the offense. Next stop for the train wreck? A date with the Indianapolis Colts. Could MGD actually be a "sit" this week?
AFC West
Kansas City - "I bet McCluster gives us the highlight play of the year." I was almost right on that one. This Chiefs team is either that good, or they are so well coached they dont know they arent. The Chiefs 31-10 win was the most complete game Ive seen them play in several years. Just wait until they draft a WR to match with McCluster and Moeaki....
San Diego - San Diego has 12 win talent and 6 win effort. This team FINDS a way to lose football games. Leon Washington had what? 5 billion kick return yards? They gave up 2, almost 3 TD returns on special teams. At 1-2, this team better dig deep and find themselves or they may end up being ran off the throne by the Chiefs. Yes, the Chiefs. But good news for SD, they get Arizona at home this week, so maybe some healing can begin.
Denver - Still dont know who the TE is, but Denver did pretty decent against the Colts. Just gotta learn to get those FGs into the endzone. I liked the brief flashes I saw from Maroney. After seeing the practice squad WR score a TD, Im convinced Peyton Manning could make anyone a downfield threat. Must win game vs Tenny this weekend...for both squads.
Oakland - Gradkowski did exactly what I expected last week, other than winning. Looks like Janikowski can still miss game winners just like college. Louis Murphy showed back up, coincidence huh? McFadden is looking like a lead back should. Just an interesting team all around. Wonder if they will rise to the occasion this week vs Houston.
NFC East
Dallas - I called out Roy Williams, and he responded with 2 scores. I also think the $55,000 bill he ran up on Dez Bryant was pretty damn funny. Reminds me of the Pauly Walnuts/Christopher Moltisani thing on the Sopranos. Marion Barber finally was able to locate and penetrate the endzone. Good news, Jerry can slightly relax at 1-2 entering the bye week. Bad news, Witten sprained his MCL.....
Washington - Who the hell is the Rat going to trot out at RB next? Ryan Torain is taking Portis's job? Did someone forget the team has other WRs besides Santana Moss? I still think Shanny looks at which RB is least owned on his roster and starts that one just to piss us off.
Philadelphia - Im not going to put this easy. Michael Vick bent the Jags over the table and had his way with them. Didnt even take them in the smush room either. Washington wont take it as easy this week (then again they already have a $100 million arseplug on the defensive line...) I give the edge to Vick in this highly anticipated matchup.
New York Giants - Hopefully all of you who saw this game lost respect for the Giants. I did. Cheap shots and shame ruled the day. Coughlin has lost control of this football team. Chin anyone?
NFC North
Chicago - Guess Devin Arwhatever was a one week wonder. Granted, the Pack helped out with 18 penalities, but who thought the Bears would be that close to the Pack late in the game anyway? Say what you want, but the Monsters of the Midway are 3-0. I would expect a letdown vs the Giants, but they are playing so bad right now I figure Chicago will be 4-0 after this weekend.
Green Bay - The running game is going to kill the Packers unless they trade for someone who can handle the load. 18 penalties killed them against the Bears, but lets be honest here, that ground attack wont do a damn thing in bad weather later in the year for this football team. Id ship a pick to Fluffalo for Fred Jackson and ride his wheels off. We know he can play.
Minnesota - They beat the Lions. Expected. I hear the bye is a 10 point favorite this week.
Detroit - They put up a hard fight. I am VERY interested to see what they do this week against Green Bay, provided Best can play through his Grade 2 Turf Toe. If he doesnt play, Ill see you next week.
NFC South
Tampa Bay - Chin up. Everyone gets their taints handed to them by the Steelers these days. The garbage time TD of LeGarrette "One Punch" Blount sure has stirred up alot of chatter. Lets see if he shows up after the bye before we get too happy here......
New Orleans - You going to fire Hartley now? That miss was so bad it almost looked intentional, and low and behold, John Carney is back in town. Lucky for the Saints, Carolina is so bad right now you wont need the kicker.
Atlanta - Hell of a win last week versus the Saints. Nice to see Turner get on track, and the offense just looks strong and balanced. Next up, a trip to reeling San Francisco, who let KC run wild.
Carolina - Sign of continued doom. Jimmy Clauses last heave gets him crushed, and then Steve Smith is waiting to cuss him out on the sidelines. The Panthers should lose to New Orleans by 40 points, so set your lineups accordingly.
NFC West
San Francisco - "I dont think its time to hit the panic button yet."
Yeah.....its time to hit the panic button. San Francisco got blown off the field by the Chiefs, and now get to face the Falcons. Another team who has the potential to lose by a few TDs. TRADE FOR KEVIN KOLB RIGHT NOW.
Seattle - One hell of a game by Leon Washington! Pete Carroll sure makes the Seahawks fun to watch. I think the Hawks will have their way with the Rams this weekend. Two strong performances in a row are too much for Bradford and the Rams......for now.
Arizona - Arizona managed to win thanks to a missed FG, but the insertion of Beanie Wells has really muddied the waters in my eyes. The Good, he picked up 75 yards on 14 carries. The bad...he didnt catch a pass. I think Hightower could have done better with the touches. We will see what happens.
St Louis - Nice win, but against a team I really dont think took them seriously. The Steven Jackson injury is terrible to this team, but then again its not like they could make the playoffs either way. Still, you cant not look at this team and see what could be.
Those are my random thoughts for now. Feel free to throw in yours.
