Mike Wallace - Possibly on the way out of Pittsburgh?

Mud speculated about this is the Antonio Brown thread. Thought this was too good of a topic to bury in another thread. Who should be interested? Where could he go that would boost his fantasy value? Where could he go that would hamper his value?

The writing is on the wall for Wallace. He won't be in Pittsburgh next year and could find himself traded any day now. Problem is that speculation says the club could only get a 4th for the disgruntled receiver. I think they could get a second. It'll be interesting to see what they get if they deal him away. It's likely that his fantasy value will plummet if he's with another club although that's not a given until we see where he lands, if he's dealt. Long story short, he needs to get his but in camp and sign his tender because that's all he's going to get from the Steelers now.

If Pitt is really looking to move Wallace (not sure I buy the rumors), I would LOVE for Cincy to be involved in this. They have a ton of cap room, and the though of Green and Wallace on opposite sides....OH MY! However, there is no way they make that deal in division......so other teams that may be interested:

San Diego - To me, it's a no brainer. They let VJax go this offseason and have been very unhappy with Floyd this offseason. This gives Rivers a go to deep guy and open things up for Gates underneath.

Indianapolis - Wayne is not getting any younger and Luck needs a go to guy to lean on. Wallace may not like going to a rebuild but Indy should be interested.

Tennessee - Britt is a headcase, they need to find a star receiver they can count on long term.

Washington - Just seems like a Snyder move.....

Carolina - SS had a resurgence last year, but he's not getting any younger either. This is a team on the rise with a star QB, get him the star of the future at WR.

St. Louis - Always in the star WR rumor, never get the guy in the end.

Anyone else you feel should or will be in the mix? What does this do to his value?

Didn't the original tender have a pick attached to it? He hasn't signed it or gone to camp but if Wallace signs his tender?

I may be getting too old to remember but it seemed like it was a second round tender as there was speculation then that teams would bite at that.

Every single one of the teams you mentioned make great sense Miller. From the list I lean towards the Chargers as most likely and Carolina and Cinci being the teams I'd like to see him dealt to. Wait, maybe not so much the Panthers. I don't want the Saints facing him twice a year.

I need to check. But he was an RFA, not a UFA I believe. I could be way off. I think the tender they signed him to was a 1st round tender, I am almost positive cause last year before the draft we were speculating Denver and Cincy who both had multiple 1st round picks could risk signing him to a contract.

Re: Steelers Extend WR......Not who you think

Okay, let me say here and now I think Wallace is a great Wr.

But can anyone else remember what has happened to the last few Wrs that Pittsburgh has let go? Holmes, Burress and Antwan Randel-el come to mind. None really ever amounted to much post Pittsburgh.

Just sayin.....

You kinda worried me here for a sec.....but wait, Burress did as much outside of Pittsburgh as he did in Pittsburgh didn't he? Let's look:
Pittsburgh: Played 5 years, only 2 1000 yd seasons and only once caught over 70 balls. Never caught more than 7 TD's. He did have his career high in both yards (1,325) and Receptions (78) in 2002 in Pit.
New York G: Played 4 years, 2 1000 yd seasons and one near miss (988). Caught 70 or more twice. Had seasons of 7, 10 and 12 TD's (career high).

Totals:
Pit - 5 yrs - 71 games - 261 rec - 4,164 yds - 22 TD's
NYG - 4 yrs - 57 games - 244 rec - 3,681 yds - 33 TD's
Total after Pit - 5 yrs - 73 gms - 289 rec - 4,293 yds - 41 TD's

Looks like Burress had his better years after leaving Pit. 2002 was a career year indeed, but his had more consistent success in New York as a Giant.

Wallace I think can succeed outside of Pit, but he does need to be in a good situation, I don't think he can be as good as he has been just anywhere.

Seems to me I read somewhere that Pitt felt they would get a higher comp pick if he left as a Free Agent, than they could get for him in a trade

Okay ONE out of the three listed, and I didn't even list all of them. Shame on you Miller. I will concede on Burress though....then again, he shot himself...so maybe not.
