Mid Season Player grades: Wes Welker

At the 1/2 way point Welker is only looking at 600-700 yards 5-7 Tds and no where near 100 catches. Mind you this is pretty good for a Number 2 WR but we expect a little more from Welker. He was a bit of a draft bargain with the injury but in most leagues someone made the Gamble but so far the gamble hasn't paid off. He is performing at about the level of where he was drafted hence the C-. The 3 Tds are way back in the past and his last two efforts were 4 catches and 3 catches for about 25 yards. Starter worthy in PPR but in non- PPR this kinda action will make you pull your hair out. :xpullhair

Let me know what you think about my grade.

Better yet, find a player grade him and post about it.

Great Analysis!

But I think he is a bigger bust for PPRs actually. I had him as a sleeper for my PPRs but he kept getting snagged before I could touch him any PPR league. The way he came out, I really thought I had missed out.

I think in most PPR leagues he got snagged up a fair bit earlier, so the bigger bust tag. But 100% agree with your analysis that you can still start him in PPR, and in non-PPR, you just have to cry :(

Despite the medical leaps from players tearing up knees and getting back on the field these days, it seems to still take more than a year to get "right".

Owen Daniels and Kevin Smith are also back on the field sooner than one would suspect - which is pretty amazing - but they're also not producing, so there you go.

well after his 2TD week 1 performance i thought i'd gotten a round 4/5 steal. but i agree c- is about where he's at now

My concern was he might have felt the need to rush back too soon to hold off Edelman. These pros don't wan't to leave the door open because you are only worth what your last performance was to these NFL teams nowadays. It's sad. I felt he pushed it too hard and i think it's pushing back.

While I had GTL's team in Landry that was the move I questioned myself about the most. I decided to keep Maclin over welker, then welker blew up in week one. I think I made the right choice.

Welkers production is only going to get worse IMO. Moss made a big difference for him and now Woodhead getting more involves takes away from him as well. If I had him I would be offering trades to everyone.
